Robin Williams and Marsha Garces Williams arrive at the premiere of "August Rush" at the Ziegfeld Theater on November 11, 2007 in New York City.
Robin Williams' wife of 19 years, Marsha Garces Williams, has filed for divorce, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
She cited irreconcilable differences, according to a petition filed in San Francisco on March 21.
The couple wed in April 1989.
They have two children, a daughter, Zelda, and a son, Cody.
Williams has served two stints in rehab; one for drugs in the 1980s and another for alcohol in 2006.

i agree somewhat with 10:40 about the ending part. I would think that after 19 yrs. you would have noticed sooner that you had differences with the person then yrs later. Maybe it was because of the kid they had that they wanted to try & work it out & it didnt but still, you can only try and wait for so long. What a Shame ..

Alcohol can ruin a good relationship if it is not kept under control. Heather Mills claimed Paul McCartney stayed drunk most of the time they were together, causing him to do some pretty strange things. She claims that all she was able to do is stare at him pouring wine glass after wine glass and it turning into verbal and physical attacks.

If my math is right, they stayed together until Cody grew up. Women often do that, stay in a busted relationship until the last kid grows up, then they move on and start living life for themselves. But also, sobriety forces couples to deal with the reality of the relationship. It's real possible to not be able to identify irreconcilable differences with one or both people self-medicating, it's human nature to want to believe that it's the booze or drugs that are causing marital problems. No new news there.

What's the big deal? People get divorced everyday. Believe me it is a terrible ordeal to go through. What makes it such a great news story? Believe me, I've been there and it "ain't" pleasant. I guess it depends on how much money you have as to wheather it makes it news worthy or not!!

This is really sad, but it makes me wonder what being married to him would be like for her. He is such a spastic character all the time, it's like he's always always acting. Constantly hyper, trying to entertain, etc.
I would think that when he "comes down" and is a normal at home husband, he would be very difficult to live with. I don't know how you are always on your game and then flip the switch to try and be normal guy. He's probably very hard to live with, kinda like a bi-polar person would be. When he "crashes", he crashes. Gosh, I hope what I am trying to say makes sense! :)
Just my opinion.
