Man! I am struggling to get myself down under 130 pounds (at 5'7") - a feat which feels like climbing Everest to me - and in looking at photos of what is considered "normal" based on our Hollywood-obsessed culture I sit here feeling like a complete failure. But the fact is, I am inching towards the very bottom of my healthy BMI.
And I look at Katherine Heigl, who is sometimes considered to be a "fleshy" or "curvy" Hollywood celebrity, and realize she is probably simply at the upper end of the "underweight" BMI range.
So what does this tell me? - The Hollywood ideal has nothing to do with a healthy weight.
And maybe, just maybe, it isn't normal to have 0% body fat, excepting very athletic people who are willing to bust their butts in the gym every day. We just think it is.
