Hot off the presses from the eternally enthusiastic Yahoo! News comes this announcement:
Shakira, the queen of Latin American pop music, is to be immortalized with a 5-meter (16-foot) iron statue in her home city on Colombia's Caribbean coast.
"When the people look at this sculpture I want them to not to think of me but think of every young girl from Barranquilla who is working toward her dreams," said Shakira when she was shown the statue in November.
When people look at this sculpture the first thing they’re going to think is, “Why the hell doesn’t she have any feet?†Then they’re going to think: “Please let this be the start of a trend. Let’s erect a statue in Kentwood, Louisiana, featuring a barefoot Britney Spears eating from a Big Grab Cheetos bag, a thong sticking out of her Daisy Dukes and a parasite named Kevin riding her coattails."
Well, we did anyway.

yes Rafiki- Shakira deserves a "much more better" statue. I think it's great that someone is finally recognizing her talent instead of worshiping the likes of Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson. Unlike the two of them, Shakira is actually talented.

Honestly I believe Shakira deserves a much more better statue. This looks like a little kid made it. But then again when you see outside of the crude way it was made. It does seem like a very hopeful and very appropriate statue

Sigh, I know gossip is gossip: mean, vicious, cruel, speculation, untrue at times, etc. I recently started getting into celebrity gossip and I'm amazed that even the journalists are cruel in the portrayals of celebrities. (I know about all the negative speculation of Kevin and I'm not arguing that he's a good guy). I just saying that I can understand the public's cruel comments, but I didn't expect that from journalist as well.
