most people that tell the truth about thing when they get older are either sick or dying and want to clear their countion before they leave earth.it still don't give bar a reason to talk star,the book is suppose to be about her,well GOD BLESS THEM BOTH,life is to short to want to argue over dumb stuff,forgive each other and go on with life.

I was so totally surprised when I heard Barbara Walters confessing the affair with a married senator from years past. Has she no shame! What good did it do to bring all of this out in the open now and shame the family of the man who has kept it to himself all these years. There is a saying that some things are best kept to yourself and taken to your grave. This was probably one of those things AND, as for the girls on the View....surprising how quiet they are about their bosses' affair. If it had been anyone else, the tongues would have been wagging. Shame on ALL OF YOU! I had so much respect for Barbara, but, no longer. She's no better the Washington madams/call girls.

Barbara, didn't tell about her business, when she was screwing around with a married man, why should Star Jones , tell about her surgey, it's her business. She don't owe the public nothing.

I don't know what to think about Barbara Walters. She was a role model in the mid-70s and has accomplished a lot. On one hand, I admire and respect her for being gutsy enough to tell the truth about her life. On the other hand, it's just more gossip that I really don't need to know, especially the affair. That being said, I tivo'd Oprah and the ABC special with Charlie Gibson and loved the Oprah interview (watching Charlie tonight).

Regarding Star. I like Star, fat or thin, although didn't like her dating and wedding antics or how she handled her weight loss because she mislead us. As a former overweight woman who had weight loss surgery 22 months ago (lap band, not gastic bypass), she shouldn't have lied about how she was losing the weight. Understanding that it is a very personal matter, she is a public figure, her lies hurt her credibility with me, no comment would have been a better route to take, even though there would have been speculation. Her announcement about how she lost the weight was timed to coincide with the premiere of her court tv talk show so her weight loss was used was, like her wedding & engagement, as another promotional opportunity. She could have done a lot of good by being honest about her struggle with her weight and been a role model to those of us who struggle with the same demons. Star, it's time to grow up and no comment would be appreciated occassionally.

Dont assume every women is capable of having an affair with a married man because you have and dont regret it. Not all women or men for that matter cheat, but most people such as yourself who do cheat or help another cheat need to justify your actions by stating or assuming everyone does it. Personally your simply telling yourself whatever you have to, in order to feel better about your own actions.
I dont judge your actions, people who cheat I am sure for the most part have their reasons...but who are you to state that every women has slept with a married man.
Oh, and news flash....marriage is a statement of commitement , no more ..no less. I am sure you believe in relatioships right...well, ..marriage is simply a celebration of that relationship. And careful sweetie, cause you dont need to be married to be cheated on..and what goes around comes around in this world.

Barbara Walters is far from being the dignified and respectful person she claims to be. She's an old has-been and, apparently, former Washington tart. For someone as smart as she is, I can't believe she hasn't figured out that having 'emotional issues' is actually part of what makes us human. When she became weepy as she talked about her late sister, is it safe to say that she was full of 'rage' ???

Barbra Walters, is the one who needs to get over herself! She sits on the view actng so high and mighty at times and acting like she would never does anything wrong but after hearing her tell all in her book we see that's not at all the case. I think Star was telling the truth it does speak to the kind of person barbra is. It's funny I don't hear noone on the view condeming Barbra for having an affair with a married man no quite the opposite it's like everyone is proud of her but I bet if it was anyother celebrity she would be talked about all day long on that show as a home wrecker. Barbra is pitiful and after the things Star said and then Rosie following I do believe she would say or do just about anything to cover her own butt. Such a shame. Why can't a lot successful women ever get along with each other? Most men don't don't care about this crap.( except Donald Trump LOL!) I see it every day with the women who are in higher positions in the hospital I work. One minute they are all sitting around talking and gossping at lunch. The next minute somebody gets up from thet table and the women who are left can't help but tear down the lady who left. Women should really be more supportive of each other. So sad!!!

Star Jones needs to get over herself. Barbara Walters told the truth and sometimes the truth isn’t pretty but she isn’t hiding and lying like Star. Star Jones admitted that she wasn't living the truth to glamour magazine. It was an article that she wrote herself, how pathetic is that, she is a control freak. She only wants to tell her version of the "half" truth, the lie. She wants to create her own persona of herself. She doesn't want other people to tell the other part of the truth. She is sad, she is disgusting, she is a liar and this is why everything in her life is failing. Regardless of what Barbara said or did in her life, her life isn't built on a lie or at least at this point she has decided to come clean about everything in her life. Her life was interesting enough without the Star story, Star wants to be the center of attention, positive attention. So anything that is contrary to that, she lies about. Everyone wants to be thought good of but at some point, living your truth means telling the truth, not your imagined, recreated version of a truth. I lost every ounce of respect for star, every single ounce, and I was a BIG fan of hers, when she came out and told that lie on the show, she knew she lied, we knew she lied, and it was HER decision to tell the lie and it’s not about Barbara Walters selling a book. I am so sick of her and instead of being the inpiration that she could have been she is an embarrassment to women everywhere! I wish she would tell the truth or just shut up already!

I'm no Barbara Walters fan (I watched The View years ago when I would be home from school and during the summers, and the only ones I didn't hate were Debbie Matenopoulous [sp?], Lisa Ling, and Joy Behar. I don't watch it now but I like Sherry Sheppard [sp?] from other shows she's been on. The rest were so annoying that they ruined the show for me) and even I think this is out of line. Star Jones has done her fair share of selling out, and in all reality, if the Senator is no longer married, why not discuss the affair? Perhaps you shouldn't have an affair with a woman who made her career as a journalist because there would always be the possibility that she would one day bring that affair to life in her writings. I feel bad for his family, but give me a break, no one cares when anyone sifts through the history of anyone elses life (the Kennedy's, Marilyn Monroe, Bill Clinton, any other political, historical, or entertainment figure). Star Jone's is nuts to think no one knew about the bypass surgery. She lied about it saying she didn't lose it that fase (yeah right!) and she only spoke about it years later. Newsflash, no one cared then and no one cares now, but don't bold face lie and then get annoyed when someone you probably begged not to tell the truth eventually spills the beans way after you already acknowledged your "secret" publicly. I swear, both of these women are ridiculous. How either became as famous as they did is a mystery to me. This isn't news, this is water cooler talk and no one even cares. And how sweet of her to call it the "sunset" of Barbara's career. She might be old but she's way more famous and distinguished than Star Jones.
