Star Trek Star to Wed in Gay Marriage

 Amanda Edwards/Getty Images Actor George Takei — known for his role as the original Sulu on Star Trek — is tying the knot. Days after Ellen DeGeneres announced she'll wed Portia de Rossi under California's new gay-marriage ruling, Takei, 71, says he will marry partner Brad Altman this summer. "We are overjoyed!" he wrote on his Web site. "Brad and I have shared our lives together for over 21 years," he went on. "We've worked in partnership; he manages the business side of my career and I do the performing. "We've shared the good times as well as struggled through the bad," he added. "He is my love and I can't imagine life without him. Now, we can have the dignity, as well as all the responsibilities, of marriage. We embrace it all heartily." The actor, who came out in 2005, said they are "enjoying the delicious dilemma of deciding where, when, and how we will be married." Love is love... gay or straight. I think it is wrong to condemn or judge a person based on their sexuality. I firmly believe that sexuality is an innate characteristic and one cannot and should not deny who they truly are biologically, emotionally or physically. Good for you George and everyone else out there who is brave enough to be yourselves! And shame on anyone whose opinion hinders the rights of others!!

It may become 'legal' by American laws, but it is still against God's laws and they will receive their final judgement from Him. The Bible says in Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." (NIV). And in Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." (NIV)

21 years. How many heterosexual couples do you know that have stayed together that long? Not many I'd wager. People love. Gender should be a non-issue. Every time you judge someone for who they love you are just sending more hate into the world. And for all of you who use God as a reason for your hatred? Shame on you. God says love thy neighbor. Hate the sin, not the sinner. Not that I am religious, but there ya go. Congrats to George and Brad, many they enjoy the rest of their lives madly in love.

I've always believed that you fall in love with a person not a gender. You can't help who you fall in love or lust with anymore than you can control the Sun. Who gives a flying fudge if people of the same sex are attracted to each other. Love can be a wonderful thing and everybody deserves to experience it. Judgemental, close-minded people disgust me yet have my sympathy..if that makes any sense. Good luck and congrats. to both!

I am so happy for them; I think it's wonderful that the ban was struck down. Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that these people, after coming out, seem much more happier? (Look at Lance Bass, etc.) I am thinking it is because it is better for one's soul to not stomp down who they really are. Now look at all the people "in the closet," like that "airport bathroom guy," (I forgot his name, but wasn't he a senator?) or all those preachers that get caught? They try to deny themselves who they honestly are, but inside I bet they are some of the most unhappiest people. I am sure these people deny because they were brought up to believe that who they are is bad. I wouldn't doubt that these people are actually hurting and screaming inside. We're all human beings with the capability to love, and I do not think it should matter if it is same sex or not. People with hateful comments about gay marriage are just afraid. I really do not see how same sex marriages will "screw things up" for different sex marriages. We're all people.
