Looking back and laughing! Believe it or not, there was a time when Anna Kendrick wasn’t red carpet royalty. The Trolls star, 31, reminisced about her D-list days during a Monday, November 14, interview on the Today Show.
Kendrick, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2009’s Up in the Air, actually paid for her own sparkly silver Christian Louboutin heels for a red carpet event at the time. “It’s the great irony that once you can afford the shoes, somebody will lend them to you, which is lovely,” the Scrappy Little Nobody author reminisced. “But at that point, the movie wasn’t out yet and nobody really knew who I was, and my stylist was like, ‘You still have to be wearing the expensive shoes otherwise the world will end,’ and kind of talked me into buying these shoes that were more than my rent.”
Even though Kendrick looked like a million bucks, the big buy wasn’t worth it. “I was like, I think that you think my life has completely changed already, and it hasn’t,” the Pitch Perfect star continued. “I’m gonna need to wait on that.’ But I got sucked into it. A very pathetic moment.”
To make matters worse, the stilettos weren’t comfortable. “No, not at all,” she said. “Why would they be?”
The actress doesn’t plan on getting used to the comforts of fame, anyway, as she insists that her descent from stardom is inevitable. In her book, she mused on her future as a has-been: “Just in an alley, chain-smoking, talking about my glory days.”
