It wasn’t just ladies’ night! Hollywood’s leading men primed and preened for the 2016 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18. Anthony Anderson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Liev Schreiber and more stars shared how they prepared for one of TV’s most important red carpets via Instagram.
Anderson, 46, amped himself up while driving home ahead of the ceremony. Donning a cooling gel eye mask, the Blackish lead proclaimed that “history will be made!” as ScHoolboy Q’s “Studio” played in the background. When he arrived, he explained that the mask was to rid himself of undereye shadows. “The bags under my eyes are bigger than my luggage!” the actor, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, revealed. “Been up since 3:50 a.m. … I’m sitting up here trying to write this Emmy acceptance speech right now. So many people to thank, so many things to say.” Though Blackish didn’t bring home any trophies this year, the actor, who wore a John Varvatos tuxedo, looked wide-awake while walking the carpet with his daughter, Kyra, and mom, Doris Hancox, a few hours later.
Schreiber also made the night a family affair. He shared a snap of him and his 7-year-old son, Samuel, getting dressed in their hotel room. “Sash and me getting ready…” the Best Actor in a Drama Series nominee captioned the September 18 moment.
Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the ceremony, got some help from a special source prior to hitting the stage. “last minute #Emmys punch up with my best joke writer,” the comedian, who wore a Burberry tuxedo at one point during the evening, shared on September 18, as daughter Jane, 2, scribbled in a notebook while sitting on Dad’s lap.
Silicon Valley’s Tom Middleditch, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, got his strands straightened for the festivities. “Salon Chez Middleditch. Primp and preen on full blast,” he captioned a September 18 selfie as a stylist tended to his mane.
Gooding Jr., who wore John Varvatos for the main event, let it all hang out for a September 17 fitting. The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story actor, 48, went without pants as he tried on a solid black button-down that stopped at his bum.
