Simone Biles, Aly Raisman Style Themselves for the Red Carpet: ‘It’s Our Turn to Take Control’

Simone Biles and Aly Raisman have stunned at several red carpet events since returning from the 2016 Rio Olympics, but despite their A-list status, they pick out all their outfits themselves — just like Us. Us Weekly caught up with the gymnasts at the launch of Just Dance 2017 video game in NYC on Tuesday, October 25, to talk fashion and more.

“Stylists are too expensive,” Raisman, 22, told Us, while Biles, 19, chimed in, “I agree. For four and a half years, we’ve had someone pick our outfits. It’s our turn to take control.”

The Final Five members explained that they like showing off their personalities outside of a leotard, especially at awards shows such as the VMAs. “When we do competitions, they pick out our outfits when we’re away for every single day and we have to match,” Raisman said. “I work with Hayley Paige, who designs my stuff, so sometimes I’ll check and say, ‘Oh, do you like this shoe with this?’ But mostly it’s just me and I’ll pick the jewelry and stuff. I really enjoy it. I think it’s a lot of fun.”

Despite the fact that their intense training regimen has dwindled to just two or three workouts per week, the athletes still don’t have too much time for shopping. Biles and Raisman are currently traveling for the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions and enjoying the perks of being gold medalists.

Biles got to visit the set of her favorite show, Pretty Little Liars, before it officially wrapped production for good this week. “They wouldn’t tell me who ‘A’ was,” she jokes. “It was so much fun meeting the whole entire cast. They were all so sweet and genuine and Keegan [Allen] still likes my tweets and retweets me and he’s just the nicest person ever.”

Raisman also gushed about hanging with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his girlfriend, Olivia Munn. “I got invited to College Game Day,” she told Us. “He invited my sister and my friends up to the box with him, and then Olivia was there, so it was so nice of him. … He was joking that I need to be 100 percent a Packers fans, not a Patriots fan anymore.”

The next event they hope to squeeze into their schedules: a live Dancing With the Stars taping to support their teammate Laurie Hernandez. “She’s so good at it, it’s crazy,” Raisman said of the 16-year-old, who is partnered with pro dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. “She’s just so much better than everybody else … but we’re biased. We love Laurie the best.”
