Shop Hilary Duff and Sutton Foster’s Drool-Worthy Workplace Style on ‘Younger’

Younger and fabulous! Every Thursday on Red Carpet Daily, the editors of Stylish highlight a small-screen style star (or stars!) we’re crushing on. This week, the honor goes to Younger‘s leading ladies, Liza (Sutton Foster) and Kelsey (Hilary Duff), whose threads give Sex and the City a run for its money. (No surprise, as Patricia Field consulted for both shows!)

“Hilary’s Kelsey was out of sorts at the beginning of season 3, feeling depressed and a bit confused by her feelings,” primary costume designer Jacqueline Demeterio tells Stylish. “Since then, she has started dating, and her wardrobe reflects that. Her style is a bit sexier than last season.”

That means the Lizzie McGuire alum’s character has gone from slightly more buttoned-up styles to adventurous sartorial decisions. “Kelsey is a young NYC girl who is on her path to success and on the pulse of making fashion decisions,” Demeterio explains. “From a sexy blue fitted crocheted Self Portrait dress to full Valentino feminine looks and a Stella McCartney fun, racer-striped ensemble. Kelsey is having fun with her wardrobe, and we are too!”

Of course, she’s not the only one whose style is evolving! After two and a half seasons, Liza has become more confident in both her personal and professional lives, and it shows. “As the series developed, it gave Liza the opportunity to show her professional talents and value, which freed her up to mix in and wear more sophisticated wardrobe elements — which she also sold,” Field tells Stylish. “Her character believability score is ’10s across the board.'”
