Matthew Broderick admits that he and wife Sarah Jessica Parker (aka "Carrie Bradshaw") still smoke – and he predicts it will rub off on their 5-year-old son, James
Wilkie.

"[He's] already curious," Broderick told New York.

"I can just see the little budding gene of a smoker in there," Broderick said. "He'll see a cigarette butt and say, 'What is that? Why do people smoke?'"

As for his own smoking habit, Broderick revealed: "I used to smoke cigarettes, and I still do, lately. I gave that up a long time ago, but every now and then I will fall off for a week."

Sex and the City star Parker is "worse than me on that," Broderick added.

Norman H. Edelman — chief medical officer with the American Lung Association — tells Us, "Children of smokers are much more likely to become smokers themselves," adding that more than 438,000 people die each year in the U.S. from smoking-related illnesses.

With $60 million, Kung Fu Panda was No. 1; Sex and the City slipped to No. 4

Kung Fu Panda - the new animated movie starring Angelina Jolie and Jack Black - was No. 1 at the box office, raking in $60 million.

Adam Sandler's latest comedy You Don't Mess With the Zohan clocked in at No. 2 with an estimated $40 million. (Sandler is expecting his second child.)

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was No. 3 with $22.8 million.

The Sex and the City movie slipped to fourth place.

It earned $21.3 million -- a 63 percent decline from its $56.8 million opening weekend.

The romantic comedy, after a 10-day release, has earned a total of $99.3 million, just shy of the $100 million mark.

She says it's "disappointing" the gown she donned to the SATC premiere was also worn by Lindsay Lohan

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker is usually fashion-forward, but at last week's NYC premiere of the film she found herself behind the times.

Parker, 43, was shocked to learn that her strapless Nina Ricci gown was worn earlier in the month by heiress Lauren (Davis) Santo Domingo to the Met's Costume Institute Gala (where she walked the carpet with the dress' designer, Olivier Theyskens).

Making matters worse, Lindsay Lohan wore the gown in an advertising campaign for Disney.

Parker told the New York Times that the designer had assured her the gown had only appeared in magazine shoots.

"Look, my affection for the dress hasn't changed," she said. "But what they did was so short-sighted. It's just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.

“[The designer] didn’t say, ‘Well, actually I just escorted Lauren down the red carpet at the Met,’” said Parker, adding, “I just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it.”

The film breaks record for the best R-rated comedy opening in history

Despite negative reviews, Sex and the City ranked as the top movie this weekend, pulling in over $55.7 million and far exceeding industry estimates of a $25-35 million opening gross, Reuters reported.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – which was No. 1 over Memorial Day weekend – dropped to second place, earning $46 million.

SATC's haul made it the best R-rated comedy opening in history, surpassing 1999's American Pie. (Among all R-rated films, it comes in at No. 5.)

Women accounted for 85% of the SATC audience on its opening night, Warner Brothers said.

"Women are great planners and they definitely wanted a girls' night out," Dan Fellman, president of distribution, told Reuters.

The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler, came in at No. 3 with $20.7 million.

NY Times: Sex and the City Movie Is "the Pits"

A critic calls the comedy "vulgar, shrill, deeply shallow"

Bad news, Sex and the City fans.

The New York Times is none too pleased with the long-awaited comedy.

"A little Botox goes a long way in Sex and the City, but a little decent writing would have gone even further," critic Manohla Dargis begins her scathing review of the movie (which opens Friday).

Dargis writes that Sarah Jessica Parker "apparently felt compelled to go big screen ... I wish Ms. Parker had let that bee in her bonnet go silent."

The movie, Dargis says, "is the pits, a vulgar, shrill, deeply shallow — and, at 2 hours and 22 turgid minutes, overlong — addendum to a show that had, over the years, evolved and expanded in surprising ways."

Adds Dargis, "There are no surprises in the movie, at least not good ones."

The review ends with an attack on lead character Carrie Bradshaw.

"There is something depressingly stunted about this movie; something desperate too," Dargis writes. "It isn’t that Carrie has grown older or overly familiar. It’s that awash in materialism and narcissism, a cloth flower pinned to her dress where cool chicks wear their Obama buttons, this It Girl has become totally Ick."
