The singer is receiving help from a residential clinic, a UK paper says

British singer Lily Allen is receiving treatment at a residential clinic for depression, UK newspaper The Sun reports.

Allen, 22, suffered a miscarriage and broke up with boyfriend Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers in January.

"She was so happy to be pregnant and was willing to give up her showbiz life to settle down and have a family,"a "pal" told The Sun. “Her miscarriage was a huge blow and she hasn’t really recovered."

After suffering a miscarriage last week, the singer plans to shoot a pilot for BBC3

Despite suffering a miscarriage last week, Lily Allen is determined to return to move forward.

The British singer – who was four months along with her first child – will be shooting the pilot episode for BBC3's Lily Allen and Friends in London on Wednesday, Usmagazine.com has learned.

"She has insisted on coming back to work," a BBC insider tells Us. "Obviously it's tough for her right now, but she is a professional and sees going back to work as a way to focus on something else."

In December, Allen, 22, announced that she and Ed Simons, a member of the Chemical Brothers, were expecting.

She recently gushed about how she couldn't wait to slip into her maternity clothes.

British singer Lily Allen, 22, has suffered a miscarriage, her rep tells Usmagazine.com.

"We can confirm that Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage," Allen's rep says. "She and her partner Ed Simons will be making no further comment and we ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time."

U.K. paper The Sun first reported the news.

In December, Allen announced that she and Simons, a member of the Chemical Brothers, were expecting.

She recently gushed about how she couldn't wait to slip into her maternity clothes.

Lily Allen has some news that will surely make her "Smile:" She and boyfriend, Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons, are expecting their first child.

"I am pleased to confirm that Lily and Ed are expecting their first baby," her rep tells Usmagazine.com.

"The health of Lily and her child is their paramount concern," the rep adds. "As the pregnancy is at such an early stage, the couple will be making no further comment, but they are obviously thrilled by the news."

Rep says Allen, 22, will continue working on her new album, which "will be released as planned next year."

She gushes about her beau in January’s Harper's Bazaar.

“I’ve looked forward to being stable my whole life,” she says. “I definitely have got my eye on the prize, which is having kids and getting married and cooking dinner and doing homework with my children.”

Her pregnancy was first reported by Britain's The Sun.

Singer Lily Allen says she was diagnosed with a heart murmur about three months ago.

The Brit, 22 — who dropped from a UK size 12 to a size eight in six weeks — told Grazia magazine her sudden weight loss is the result of exercise following the health scare, not because she wanted to be "some skinny minnie.

"I used to love nothing more than sitting in front of the telly with two packets of Ginger Nuts and two bags of milk-bottle sweets — and I'd devour the lot," she told Grazia.

"But this heart thing has made me cut back on all that kind of crap," she added. "I now find that, because I am looking after myself, I don't feel like eating the bad stuff so much."

Though she's put boozing on the backburner, she admitted, "I should also give up smoking, but haven't quite managed that yet."

A heart murmur is often harmless but can also indicate a hole in the heart or a heart valve problem.

Lily Allen has something to smile about. She has been flaunting her newly svelte figure all over Paris fashion week. So how did the British songbird drop from a 12 to an 8? Hypnosis.

Allen slimmed down with the help of Susan Hepburn, an accredited hypnotherapist and psychotherapist who charges approximately $600 an hour to implant subconscious messages into clients' minds reminding them to stop eating when they feel full. According to the Daily Mail, Hepburn also teaches clients to associate healthy activities, such as working out in the gym, with happiness.

"After the hypnotism, I want to go to the gym every day, otherwise I feel really bad,” Allen, 22, said. “I just want to get more toned and healthy. I'm really good about everything at the moment -- I've never been happier.”

Allen's self-confidence certainly has increased since last spring. In May, the "Smile" singer posted a melancholy blog post on her MySpace page in which she blogged about her body image issues.

"I used to pride myself on being strong minded and not being some stupid girl obsessed with the way I look," she wrote. "I felt like it didn't matter if I was a bit chubby cause I'm not a model, I'm a singer. I'm afraid I am not strong and have fallen victim to the evil machine. I write to you in a sea of tears from my hotel bed in Seattle, I have spent the past hour researching gastric bypass surgery, and laser lipo suction."

On why she got into entertainment:
"When my parents were away and stuff, I had to get myself off to school and I could never be bothered to do it. But when my dad was an actor, I remember I'd stay with him when he was on location and people would knock on his door in the morning. 'Come on, you've got to get up! You've got to be in the makeup chair in two minutes!' I knew then that I wanted someone to wake me up in the morning. 'Oh, okay! I'll be an entertainer. I've got no responsibilities. Perfect.'"

On how many Allen siblings there are out there:
"I don't know. I honestly don't. My dad lies about it. He's like, 'Okay, it's eight.' And I'm like, 'We know it's twelve.' There are a few years before he met my mom that are unaccounted for, but law of averages would say he had five [kids then]."

On genetics and trade-offs:
"I've got my dad's short legs and long back. My mom, my sister, and my brother all have blonde hair and blue eyes. I'm the only one like this. My sister's very tall and beautiful. But then again, I'm talented and rich."

On being in the tabloids: "I think people hate me in England. I’m in the tabloids. I don't want to be but I am. I'll write 10 million nice things and then I’ll write one thing that annoys me and it's like, 'Lily Allen slams Lindsay Lohan. Lily Allen slams Madonna.' And I become that person who badmouths people, which I'm not."

But then again...:
"I can't wait until Lindsay Lohan goes to jail. 'Boo hoo hoo. I'm going to jail.' Good. Does that mean you'll stop showing me your [lady bits] now?"

On the biggest difference between America and England:
"Here they get their [hoo-has] waxed. I get a strip, a runway strip. I don't think I could get it done in England. They stare at it. They spend ages doing it. It's like, 'Get it over and f-ing done with!'"
