Oprah Winfrey Going Vegan for 21 Days

She says her detox will allow her to "see what my attachments are to certain kinds of foods"

Oprah Winfrey is hoping to shed some serious pounds.

The daytime diva, 54, has announced she is going vegan for a 21-day detox.

And she insists on her blog that it isn't so bad.

"Wow, wow, wow! I never imagined meatless meals could be so satisfying." she writes. "I had been focused on what I had to give up — sugar, gluten, alcohol, meat, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese. 'What's left?' I thought. Apparently a lot. I can honestly say every meal was a surprise and a delight, beginning with breakfast — strawberry rhubarb wheat-free crepes."

Inspired by Kathy Freston's book Quantum Wellness, Winfrey says, "this 21-day cleanse gives me a chance to think about [eating] differently and see what my attachments are to certain kinds of foods – and what I'm willing to do to change."

Her new menu — created by Freston's own chef Tal Ronnen — features food like tofu scramble roasted tomato, grilled onion and sweet garlic aioli quesadillas with jicama slaw.

She plans to blog her the entire dieting process.

"Don't know if I'm going to feel better or worse," Winfrey writes, "but I'm willing to try to see if my body at least feels differently."

Mariah Carey knew all along that she was going to wed Nick Cannon, says pal Oprah Winfrey.

Before she tied the knot, Winfrey said that Carey had the words "Mrs. Cannon" tattooed on her back.

Winfrey dished about the shocking wedding on her talk show Wednesday.

Her pal Gayle King also appeared, via satellite, and recalled an interview she had with Carey a week before the April 30 ceremony.

King said that Carey told her, "I do have somebody, but I can't tell you who it is." When pressed, Carey finally admitted, "It is Nick Cannon. It's a secret. Don't tell anybody."

King said she thought even Carey herself didn't even know she'd be getting married so fast.

Not so, says Winfrey.

Before wedding, Carey visited Winfrey and "she already had, on her body, the tattoo on her back that said 'Mrs. Cannon,'" Winfrey said. "They were already planning on doing it." (See their steamy music video here.)

King, who has spoken to Carey, then added, "Mariah told me herself that she has never felt this way about anybody before in her whole life. They have something special between the two of them that both of them feel.

King said she is "concerned they got married so quickly. I do think when you meet somebody you've only known a month ... that's a little scary."

Still, King added, "I'm happy for her."

"I kept falling!" he admits in part two of his Oprah Winfrey interview

It's been 25 years since Tom Cruise pranced around in his underwear in 1983's Risky Business, but the actor, now 45, remembers it like it were yesterday.

In part two of his interview with Oprah Winfrey, he tells the daytime diva he initially planned to dance in his bare feet.

"I kept falling," admitted Cruise, who was 19 when he shot the scene that helped launch his career. "So I thought, 'Well, I'm going to put on my socks.' I got on the floor. I literally waxed the floor on my hands and knees to get it prepped."

Still, Cruise said, "I was always trying to enjoy every moment that I could because I thought, 'If this is the last film I get to make, then at least I lived that dream.'"

He added, "I had no idea that I'd be here 25 years later doing this."

Pal Will Smith did: "Every man can't just slide in a room nekkid with sunglasses on and pull it off," Smith told Winfrey. "So I knew at that point ... he's a star." (See Cruise's former flames here.)

TOP GUN

Cruise also looked back on that memorable scene in 1986's Top Gun when his character, Maverick, serenades Kelly McGillis with "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."

He even sang the song for Katie Holmes at their 2006 wedding.

"Were you a little more on key?" Oprah asked.

Cruise joked, "I don't know why I wasn't offered musicals after that."

The movie was a dream for the actor because, he said, "I always wanted to be a pilot. [As a kid,] I used to travel with two pictures when we moved around. I had a picture of a P-51 and a Spitfire. And I used to make models all the time of airplanes."

JERRY MAGUIRE

As for playing a slick sports agent in the 1996 romantic comedy Jerry Maguire, Cruise said he "loved doing that scene" where he repeatedly shouts "Show me the money!" to Cuba Gooding Jr.

Of the film, Cruise said, "It was one of those movies that had so many dynamics that just came together."

Renée Zellweger, who played his love interest, remembered shooting the scene where Cruise tells her, "You complete me."

"I don't know what he was thinking about when he came through that door, but he was a wreck," she said. "He brought something with him that day."

Of Cruise, Zellweger said, "He was born with some magic about him, and you can't describe it, and you can't dissect what makes Tom Cruise special."

His BFFs, Victoria and David Beckham, said the film brought them together.

"One of our first dates, we went to the movies to see Jerry Maguire, and I wore glasses," Victoria said. "It was first time David kissed me, and he completely steamed up my glasses."

HIS CAREER

Cruise said he is "actually surprised" how much he's accomplished.

"I just feel really privileged to be able to do what I do, and I thank you all for allowing me to entertain you," he told the audience.

"I feel that this is what I'm supposed to do," he added. "I love it."

He will appear on the show three years after his infamous couch-jumping episode

Oprah Winfrey may want to hide her couch: Tom Cruise is returning to her talk show.

Three years after his memorable couch-jumping episode, Winfrey will interview Cruise from his home in Telluride, Colorado, on May 2.

Then, Cruise will appear in her Chicago studio for a second taping on May 5.

The two-part show coincides with the 25th anniversary of Cruise's famous flick Risky Business.

Friends and colleagues will surprise him with taped messages, according to Harpo Productions.

Since his last appearance, Cruise wed Katie Holmes, and the couple welcomed daughter Suri — who just turned 2.

Her cocker spaniel Sophie "was a true love in my life," she says

Oprah Winfrey is dedicating her Friday talk show to her cocker spaniel Sophie, who recently died of kidney failure at the age of 13.

"Sophie gave me 13 years of unconditional love. She was a true love in my life," Winfrey says on the show, according to a transcript released to the Associated Press.

Former View co-host Lisa Ling delivers an investigation on puppy mills — a segment Winfrey says is a must-see "for anybody anywhere who loves a dog, has ever loved a dog or just cares about their basic right to humane
treatment."

Winfrey — whose three current dogs are adopted — says she plans to adopt from an animal shelter in the future after seeing the segment.

"I would never, ever adopt another pet now without going to a shelter to do it," she says. "I am a changed woman after seeing this show."

The World Food Programme will use the donation to help feed children in Africa

Drew Barrymore is donating $1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme to help feed children in Africa, she announced on Monday’s Oprah.

"I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child's life," Barrymore, 33, said. "It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future."

The actress got involved with the charity in 2005, and became an Ambassador Against Hunger last year. She’s traveled twice to Kenya with the group.

“We have a dream…to feed another 10 million hungry school children in Africa by Thanksgiving Day,” added the organization's Executive Director, Josette Sheeran, who was also on the show.

Oprah’s new show, The Big Give, which inspires charitable donations, premiered last night.

The daytime diva revealed her new list of must-haves on Tuesday's show

On Tuesday's The Oprah Winfrey Show, the daytime diva unveiled her list of Favorite Things.

What topped her list? The $799 Samsung Progressive HD Camcorder SC-HMX10C.

"My first favorite thing is state of the art and I carried it around with me all through Macon," said Winfrey, who taped her show in the city in Georgia because it has the nation's highest percentage of viewers.

"Little Henry's the sweetest child known to mankind," Roberts gushed of her son

Julia Roberts showed off a photo of her five-month-old son Henry for the first time on The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday. See video below.

The actress, 40 — who is wed to cameraman Danny Moder — said her twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus (who turn 3 on November 28), were born at 1:21 and 1:22. Two-and-a-half years later, Henry was born at 1:23 this past June.

"It just completed us," Roberts said of his birth. "We're complete. We're a good five-some."

"I have to say, little Henry's the sweetest child known to mankind," she said. "I think I can say that objectively."

Roberts' family life is tighter than ever, Winfrey told the audience.

She said she was trying to sneak Roberts out for a drink at the hotel when little Finn clung onto his mom and said, "Mom, I don't want you to go. I don't want you to go," Winfrey recalled.

So what's life like in the Roberts-Moder household?

"It's a real team effort," Roberts said. "Everything that goes on has to sort of pass everybody's approval. Danny and the kids, everybody has to want to go and be part of it or else it doesn't work. Moms know [what it's like] when you leave the house, and your kids are crying and saying, 'Don't go.' So I usually don't go."
