Miley Cyrus Speaks Out on Vanity Fair Scandal: "It Still Hurts"

"Every career thing that I do can’t be perfect," she says

Miley Cyrus says she is still recovering from her topless Vanity Fair photo scandal.

"I was embarrassed... but also it’s like, every career thing that I do can’t be perfect, and sometimes my decisions are wrong," she tells Billboard in a new interview.

On the plus side, she says the experience made her "even more relatable.

"I don’t think people will look at me any differently because they’re like, 'You know what, I’m going to do stupid stuff too, and I’m going to make mistakes, and that’s fine,'" she adds.

But she admits, "It still hurts when I think about it.”

She says she is "super blessed" that she is a role model for young girls but "that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to make mistakes and do things that everyone’s going to be happy with ... there's no such thing as perfection."

The 15-year-old singer — who is about to finish shooting the upcoming Hannah Montana movie in Nashville — says she doesn't plan on playing the character forever.

"I mean, I won’t be Hannah Montana by the time I’m 30," Cyrus says. "But we’ve only done two seasons, so we definitely want to work on that hopefully for another two years."

Next up?

"I’ve been talking to people about some cool movies, but right now I mostly want to stay within my company and keep them happy and keep everything that we’re doing successful and focus on that," she says. "I like to do everything that I do 120 percent and unless I can focus hardcore on that, I don’t want to do it yet."

In her first appearance since her semi-topless Vanity Fair photo scandal, Miley Cyrus popped by a Target store in Nashville, Extra reports.

Asked how she is doing, she replied, “Good, thank you.”

As for the semi-topless pics, she remained mum. "No comment," she said.

Over the weekend, Cyrus released a statement apologizing for the racy spread, saying she was "embarrassed" she took them.

She has since been holed up at home in Nashville, where she is working on pre-production for the latest Hannah Montana film.

Yesterday, several stars came to her defense.

On her blog Rosie O'Donnell told people, "Leave her alone," adding that she approved of the 15-year-old's shots by Annie Leibovitz.

Hills stars Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad also had no problem with the pics.

"I think she’s a young girl in Hollywood, and she’s just having fun," Montag said. "[She]'s exploring herself."

Added Conrad, "I thought she looked beautiful in the pictures. I didn’t find it that inappropriate."

Miley Cyrus' parents aren't thrilled with the semi-topless shots of their 15-year-old daughter.

A source tells Usmagazine.com that Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Tish were at the Vanity Fair shoot all day but decided to leave before the final, racy photo of Miley was snapped.

“They were happy with the photos taken earlier in the day, but they didn’t see the photo in question until now," the source says.

(In a statement, a Vanity Fair rep said, "Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot, and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.")

So how is Miley — who is currently hiding out in Nashville — holding up?

“She’s embarrassed," the source says. "Her parents are really upset about the situation.”

On Monday, Bill O'Reilly blasted the "Achy Breaky Heart Singer" for allowing his teen daughter to pose for Vanity Fair in the first place.

"Vanity Fair ... is not her audience at all," he said, adding that he turned her into a "sex symbol" at 15.

He suggested she "do Oprah and say, 'We made a mistake, here's why and it won't happen again.'"

Bill O'Reilly blames Billy Ray Cyrus for daughter Mile's Vanity Fair topless photo scandal.

On Monday's O'Reilly Factor, he said the country singer had been "canny" about keeping his 15-year-old daughter (who earned $18.2 million last year) out of scandal.

"Then they go into Vanity Fair — which is not her audience at all," he said. "He puts her into a situation where she becomes, at 15, a sex symbol.

"Middle America," O'Reilly added, "they don't like this."

Though O'Reilly said he thinks "Miley is a nice girl," she made "a bad decision."

His suggestion? "She should do Oprah and say, 'We made a mistake, here's why and it won't happen again,'" O'Reilly advised.

O'Reilly had previously called for a conference to discuss photos of a lingerie-clad Miley that had recently hit the Internet.

On Monday, Michele Combs, a spokesperson for the Christian Coalition of America, told Usmagazine.com that Disney should reprimand the Hannah Montana singer.

"If she's gonna go out there and represent wholesome values, she needs to be more accountable for her actions," Combs said.

Topless shots of Audrina Patridge have hit the web. (See them here.)

Patridge, 22, tells TMZ.com that she "took these photos years ago when I was just out of high school and beginning to model.

"I was young and very trusting of others and I didn't know to protect myself," she adds.

"It is a lesson learned, for myself, and hopefully for the young girls who look up to me."
