The singer downplays their expletive-ridden spat earlier this week

Lily Allen claims her expletive-ridden spat with Elton John this week was blown out of proportion.

"Elton John and I are friends," she blogs on her MySpace page. "I was honored when Elton asked me to present the GQ awards with him this year in association with Elton's AIDS foundation. Not only was it for a good cause, but who would say no to Elton?"

But the singer raised eyebrows after she appeared intoxicated onstage and got into a heated verbal exchange with the singer. ("F*** off, Elton, I'm 40 years younger than you," Allen snapped after he criticized her drinking.)

"I'm not defending my drunkenness because I don't need to," Allen writes. "I'm 23. It was an awards ceremony, I drank the free champagne - how awful of me."

But she says "trying to create a feud .... and trying to make me out as being some rude little girl with a drink[ing] problem is just unfair.

"Elton and I exchanged jokes and there were no hard feelings at all," she continues. "Neither of us gave it a second thought."

(She also said she was just "winding Alfie up" when she called her brother's girlfriend Jaime Winstone "my very soon-to-be sister-in-law.")

"I've been made to feel like a bad friend and an embarrassment to my fans and the people who support me," Allen says before signing off. "I shouldn't have to defend myself when I've done nothing wrong."

"I could still snort you under the table," he lashes out after the tipsy singer insults his age

Don't expect Lilly Allen and Elton John to share a duet any time soon.

The singers got into a heated verbal scuffle at Tuesday's GQ Men of the Year Awards in London, The Times of London reports. (See more feud photos.)

Distressed that Allen, 23, was sipping champagne and slurring her words alongside him onstage, John, 61, sniped: "What, you are going to have another drink?"

"F*** off Elton, I'm 40 years younger than you, I have my whole life ahead of me," Allen shot back in front of an audience that include Gordon Ramsay, Thandie Newton and Elle MacPherson.

“I could still snort you under the table,” John fired back.

Allen's shot back, “F*** off. I don't know what you are talking about.”

That wasn't Allen's only war of words that night.

While introducing her brother Alfie's girlfriend Jaime Winstone, she called her "my very soon-to-be sister-in-law."

Add Sir Elton John to the growing list of people who aren't fans of Don Imus.

John spoke out about the embattled radio host at Wednesday night's Billie Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

John, 60, who performed at the event, dedicated the song "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word" to the players of the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

On Wednesday, Imus was fired by MSNBC, which simulcasts his radio show, for his racially charged remarks. (CBS Radio, which syndicates the program, so far has kept him on the payroll.)

John told the crowd from the stage, "I don't want to open my big mouth because I have a big mouth and it gets me in trouble sometimes, but I dedicate this next song to the Rutgers University players."

When he finished singing the crowd jumped to their feet and gave Elton a standing ovation. John then told the crowd, "I think he [Imus] should step down immediately."

The Billie's, named after tennis great Billie Jean King and hosted by the Women's Sports Foundation, recognize media excellence in women's sports and physical activity. Judging by Imus' recent remarks, we assume the 59-year-old loud mouth isn't a member.

· A French court rejected a plagiarism lawsuit filed against George Clooney by a writer who claimed he stole ideas from a script she wrote in 2002. [WaPo]

· A Manhattan judge issued a warrant for Boy George's arrest after he failed to show up for a court date regarding a false police report he filed last March claiming he'd been burglarized. [E!]

· Elton John suing the Fulton County, Georgia tax assessors office, claiming the county overvalued his 12,000 square-foot condo by assessing it at $4.6 million, which John claims is $900,000 too high. [USA Today]

Cher has emerged -- looking like an extra from House of Wax on loan from Maddam Tusseads (see rather disturbing photo) â€“ from retirement as the next superstar bound for Vegas, according to the New York Post:

The well-preserved diva-saur - who just finished a three-year "farewell" tour - is in talks to take the stage at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace for a whopping $60 million when Celine Dion gives up the same stage next year.

Cher will be paid roughly the same sum Barry Manilow is getting to warble his moldy hits at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Elton John also has a regular gig at Caesars. A rep for Cher didn't return calls or e-mails.

If Celine Dion is giving up the stage, can we at least put her on Palace arrest and bar her from unleashing her fist-pumping over-emoting self upon the rest of the world? Isnâ€™t what happens in Vegas supposed to stay in Vegas?
