Britney Spears is among the nominees of the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, it will be announced on F'N MTV Friday.

The 26-year-old VMA veteran is up for Best Female Music Video for "Piece of Me."

Spears will compete in the category against Katy Perry for "I Kissed a Girl," Rihanna for "Take a Bow," Mariah Carey for "Touch My Body" and Jordin Sparks for "No Air."

The nominees for Best Male Music Video are T.I. for "What You Know," Usher for "Love in the Club," Little Wayne for "Lollipop," Chris Brown for "With You" and Flo-Rida for "Low."

T.I. told Usmagazine.com at the taping of F'N that his nomination is "definitely an honor, privilege, [and an] absolute pleasure."

As for Spears' nomination, T.I. said, "Stiff competition. May the best hot chick win!"

The show will include a performance by the Jonas Brothers.

The 25th annual awards will be hosted by British actor/comedian Russell Brand. The show will air live on Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from Paramount Studios in Hollywood.

Mariah Carey says she and husband Nick Cannon are solid.

"It's good," she tells MTV News of their marriage. "Life is beautiful, and things are going well."

Since wedding Cannon in April, she says she has heard people say "things are rocky and hazy and messed up" between them.

"I'm like, 'Why would we have gotten married?'" says Carey, who is planning to tour in November. "People are going to say what they say, but what would be the purpose? I guess other people do those things for a purpose, but I don't know.

"I'm ecstatic, so be ecstatic with me!" she adds. "Be happy with me. Can we celebrate?"

She recently told the August issue of Elle that they want to start a family.

Of Cannon, she said, "I couldn’t imagine anybody that I’ve ever met being a better dad."

She tells Elle they share "a similar spiritual outlook on life"

Mariah Carey says she's ready to have children — and there's nobody better to have them with than husband Nick Cannon.

"I couldn’t imagine anybody that I’ve ever met being a better dad," the singer, 39, tells August's Elle.

She says she wants to raise their kids with a dose of reality.

“You can get caught up in Hollywood-land or celebrity-land, and that’s maybe not the best thing for kids, ’cause they didn’t ask for it," she says.

"I really feel like it’s very important to be responsible and to think, 'Well, maybe if I do this it’s not the best thing for my child,'" she says.

"You have to take a backseat a little bit, and as someone in the public eye,
you’re not used to doing that."

She also says her relationship with Cannon, 27, is different than her previous marriage to music executive Tommy Mottola.

"I wasn’t in a real relationship," she says. "It was more of a friendship and a working situation.”

She says she and Cannon share "a similar spiritual outlook on life."

She adds that they purposely kept their relationship on the down-low before tying the knot in April.

"I think we didn’t want to give people a chance to be like, 'What are you doing? What are you talking about? This is so quick... are you sure?'" she says.

She also opens up about Cannon's two proposals. (Cannon recently told Usmagazine.com Carey is "amazing.")

He first popped the question on Carey's NYC roof, hiding a 17-carat diamond
ring inside a candy ring pop.

Then, she says, "he sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride [and] re-proposed."

Nick Cannon is still in the honeymoon phase with new wife Mariah Carey.

"It's amazing!" Cannon, 27, told Usmagazine.com at the Christian Audigier nightclub grand opening in Las Vegas Thursday night.

"It's the best thing that's ever happened to me!" he continued.

The Wild 'N Out host tied the knot to Carey, 38, in a hush-hush ceremony in the Bahamas on April 30.

[Nick's] plan is to have one [wedding] every year," Carey gushed to Ellen DeGeneres two weeks later. "Instead of trying to be like, 'You're invited, but shhh, don't tell anybody,' we're just going to have another one [wedding] next year."

Up next for the lovebirds? Babies!

"I always said… if I found the right person who I felt would be on the same page as me in term of raising kids and having the same belief system, [we'd have kids]," Carey said.

Reuben Cannon told Us his half-brother Nick, "definitely wants kids," and that he "loves [Mariah] more than any other girl."

The couple got cozy on the set of her steamy video "Bye Bye." Watch their chemistry.

How far in advance should you start shopping for a wedding dress like Fergie? When's the perfect time to sent out invites like Ashlee Simpson? WeddingChannel.com deputy editor Summer Krecke fills Usmagazine.com in.

Q: In the May 2008 issue of Glamour, Fergie said she had just started looking for a wedding dress even though she's been engaged since December. How much time do you actually need to find the perfect gown?

A: While beginning your dress hunt 6-12 months before your wedding is recommended, don't give yourself anything less than 3-4 months before your wedding date, advises WeddingChannel.com deputy editor Summer Krecke. "Usually a bridal shop will need to start fitting you for your dress 8-12 weeks before your wedding day to ensure that there are no sizing fluctuations.”

Q: Ashlee Simpson sent out “Save the Date” e-mail for her wedding to Pete Wentz a week before their nuptials. How far in advance are you expected to send one to your guests?

A: “A week’s notice isn’t really realistic – especially if you're expecting many out-of-town guests to attend your wedding,” notes WeddingChannel.com deputy editor Summer Krecke. While correct wedding etiquette dictates that a notice be sent to out-of-town guests 6-9 months prior to your wedding day, you have the option of doing so by post or by e-mail.

Q: Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon didn’t tell their friends and family they were getting married – they surprised them instead with their island ‘I do’s’. What’s the best way to let everyone know you’re getting married?

A: “Preferably before you sell your wedding pictures to a national publication,” jokes WeddingChannel.com deputy editor Summer Krecke. “In all seriousness, there are several steps that need to be taken immediately after you become engaged,” she notes. “These steps should be taken 10-12 months before your wedding day.” Those steps include a formal engagement announcement in your local newspaper, a less-formal announcement made personally to close friends and family and a private confirmation to your employer so they have time to plan accordingly for your honeymoon.

Q: First daughter Jenna Bush waited until two months before her wedding to announce her wedding party — what’s the norm?

A: Give your wedding party the same time and consideration you would give yourself, advises WeddingChannel.com deputy editor Summer Krecke. “It’s important that you make your wedding party selections at least 9-12 months before your wedding day to ensure that your close friends or family have time to save and put aside time to help you celebrate your day.”

Q: Rumor has it Beyonce and Jay-Z didn’t book a florist until a month before their April 4th wedding day. How much time do you actually need?

A: Usually you should give yourself 6-9 months before your actual wedding day so you have time to research local florists and conduct interviews, recommends Summer Krecke, deputy editor of WeddingChannel.com. "You need to first identify what kind of wedding you want to have, then decide what flowers you'd like to incorporate into that and how much you'd like to spend." A florist can then typically give you a cost estimate, show you examples of their past work and even tell you what flowers will be in season during your nuptials.

Q: A very-pregnant Jessica Alba and her fiancé Cash Warren recently eloped. How do you celebrate a wedding no one was invited to?

A: If you're the bride or groom, a close friend or even a family member, you can throw a belated reception to celebrate the newly-married couple, suggests WeddingChannel.com deputy editor Summer Krecke. “There's no set rules,” notes Krecke. “If there was no reception to begin with, it's perfectly acceptable for the bride to wear her dress again and to even have a traditional wedding cake." Though gifts may be optional, they should still be heartfelt, notes Krecke. "If the couple neglected to register, a bottle of wine or donation to their favorite charity in their name is an extremely thoughtful gesture."

The newlyweds kissed and he spun her "Fantasy"

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon took their PDA to Operation Smile's fifth annual gala in NYC Thursday night.

When Carey arrived late, she ran over to kiss Cannon, who was DJing the event.

Cannon frequently pointed and smiled at Carey, who sat in a private booth nearby, and made jokes to get her to laugh.

The singer drank white wine and Cannon even added her classic song "Fantasy" to his set. Click here to see more pics of the newlyweds out and about Thursday night.

The couple wed April 30 in the Bahamas.
