Hilary Swank Declares She's "in Love" With Her Former Agent

Following public split with <b>Chad Lowe</b>, the <i>P.S. I Love You</i> star opens up about falling for John Campisi

Hilary Swank goes public with her relationship with John Campisi, her former agent, in the January issue of W magazine.

"Of course, I'm in love," she says. "Or I wouldn't be in this relationship for as long as I've been. He's a great guy."

Swank, 33 — who began seeing Campisi, 40, after splitting with husband Chad Lowe in 2006 — had been spotted affectionate with him but remained mum on their relationship status. (See what her man looks like here.)

Swank — who said she takes 45 supplements daily as well as vitamin injections — also came clean about her obsession with working out.

“I have a really high metabolism," she said. "Exercise is also really important to me. I think it gives me more energy. I would rather sleep six hours and get an hour workout than sleep seven hours.”

In an interview to air on Monday’s episode of Extra, Chad Lowe, 38, opens up for the first time about his much-publicized split from Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank, 32. Excerpts from the interview below:

On getting divorced:
"It has been a tough year and not something I expected. It's very humbling.”

On Swank spilling details of Lowe’s past substance abuse to Vanity Fair:
"They were absolutely true, absolutely true. I've been sober for three and a half years and very grateful for that… I was disappointed that the details of our relationship became public."

On Swank’s support:
"I am so grateful to Hilary for her support of me in a very difficult time in my life three and a half years ago. What hurt me more than anything is that people would think that she wasn't there for me and she was…She was the love of my life and that's not something you just shut off. I will always love her."

On whether they’ll reconcile:
"Not in a marital sense...I'm very happy with my life and where it is now." He admits, "It's been a tough year and I've gotten through it and at this point with some perspective I can see that things really work out the way they are meant to."

On whether he thinks he’ll find love again:
"I don't know. I don't think you can predict that...I'm very open to it and you know I take great solace in the fact that I know I am capable of really deep love."

Lowe’s latest project is Beautiful Ohio, a 70s-era film starring William Hurt, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Julianna Margulies, which Lowe directed and produced. Watch for Lowe next season when he joins the cast of 24.

Hilary Swank, 31, cites hubby Chad Loweâ€™s substance abuse problem as one of the reasons the couple announced that they were divorcing last May.

"I knew something was happening but I didn't know what," Swank tells Vanity Fair in an interview excerpted by the New York Post. Lowe, who is now sober, battled addiction for years.

"When I found out, it was such a shock because I never thought he'd keep something from me. And yet, on another level, it was a confirmation of something I was feeling that was keeping us from being completely solid."

Though the addiction was the beginning of the end for the couple, Swank knew it was important to stand by her man. "When I found out, I wanted to be there, I knew it was the most important time of his life. That's when he needed me most."

"He's sober now. I don't want to make it seem like that's the sole reason; there were other factors. But that just kind of blew it open. It made me look at things a lot deeper. That's when you realize it's not going to work."

Still, the actress, who does not disclose the nature of her husband's addiction, gives Lowe credit for kicking his habit. "It's an enormous obstacle to overcome, and he's doing it. He's living a sober life," says Swank, who began dating Lowe in 1992 and married him in 1997. "I know how difficult it is, and I'm really proud of his sobriety."

The two-time Oscar winner also dismissed rumors that the end of her marriage was brought on by Loweâ€™s jealousy over her career.

"Chad is very supportive of my career," Swank says. "He is, I think, genuinely happy for my success. . . . I think that any frustration for him stemmed from the lack of opportunities in his own career."

Swank, who will next be seen in The Black Dahlia with Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett, is in the process of moving out of the coupleâ€™s 4,000-square-foot Greenwich Village brownstone in NYC.

"When I told you I'm the happiest I've ever been, it's not because I'm getting a divorce," she says. "It's because I'm living in truth now. My happiness has stemmed from being brutally honest with myself, facing truth every single day, no matter how hard it is."

Lowe, 38, and his managers could not be immediately reached for comment yesterday.
