She clashed with Whoppi Goldberg over use of the racial slur

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck broke down in tears on the View Thursday during a discussion about under what circumstances the "N" word can be used appropriately.

Hasselbeck argued that the word shouldn't be used at all because "it perpetuates stereotypes and hate" (Watch above).

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg responded, "We use it the way we want to use it"

Goldberg also took issue that Hasselbeck said they both live in "the same world."

"We do live in different worlds," Goldberg said. "You don't understand."

At one point, Barbara Walters even told Hasselbeck: "You're not listening, you're just talking."

Hasselbeck was brought to tears when she asked, "How are we supposed to move forward if we keep using words that bring back that pain?"

The actress ducks questions about their relationship on The View

Actress Kate Hudson ducked questions about her relationship with Lance Armstrong on The View Wednesday.

"Yeah, I try not to talk about my personal life," she said, laughing, when Barbara Walters pressed her (watch above).

"I think somebody told me he was going to be on the show next week," the actress added. "You should ask him [if we're dating]."

Hudson also dodged questions about her relationship on Monday when asked by Ryan Seacrest.

"My main priority in my life is my son and the number one thing I've learned is to discuss [these] things only causes more problems and more words taken out of context," she said. "Everything is always misconstrued and it's always better to just let people speculate."

The actress, 29, and the cyclist, 36, have been spotted together since May. On May 17, Hudson and her 4-year-old son Ryder joined Armstong and his three children for dinner in Austin, Texas, where he has a home.

Barack Obama isn't the only one winning seats!

His wife Michelle will co-host ABC's The View June 18, ABC said in a statement Wednesday.

Barack Obama has appeared twice on The View. He disclosed that he and Brad Pitt were related during his March 28 appearance.

"I guess we're ninth cousins removed or something," he said, adding, "I think he got the better-looking side of the gene pool."

Years after coming clean about her gastric bypass, Star Jones is cracking fat jokes!

"If I punched every b-tch who called me fat, it would be dead bitches all up and down the highway," Jones said during a taping of The Bad Girls Club reunion special (watch above; her joke is at 1:19 in)

The reunion episode airs Tuesday on Oxygen.

Last week Jones got into a public feud with Barbara Walters, who claimed Jones asked her to cover-up the gastric bypass on The View

The war of the words is continuing between Barbara Walters and her former View co-host Star Jones.

"Poor woman, she's gone through so much," Walters said on Larry King Live Monday night (Watch here).

Walters was asked about Jones' comment to Usmagazine.com last week: "It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character."

Walters – who claims in her new memoir that Jones forced her to lie about her gastric bypass surgery on The View – responded: "I think [Star's] suffering now and that's why she's lashing out."

Walters insists she was a fan of Jones (who split from husband Al Reynolds in March).

"I was very fond of Star," she told King. "The network wanted to let her go. The ratings were going way down… It took her a long time to get a job.

"I wish her well," Walters added.

Tom Cruise made a surprise message for Barbara Walters on the occasion of her 50th anniversary in television.

The actor said in a taped clip broadcast Wednesday: "Do you realize that on October 4,1976, when you became the first woman ever to anchor the evening news... that that moment in time would forever empower other women to reach for their goals in any field that they chose?"

He also called Walters a "leading force for women not only in the newsroom but the world at large" (Watch above).

Walters responded with a giggle, "Oh, Tommy baby! How nice!"

Walters just published her memoir, Audition, in which she writes about her affair with a married senator and why Star Jones left The View.

Barbara Walters says she has no clue about Star Jones' recent comments about her memoir Audition.

Jones spoke exclusively to Usmagazine.com Wednesday, saying Walters has been "reduced to branding herself as an adulterer ... for the sake of selling a book."

Walters told Entertainment Tonight Thursday, "I didn't see the statement. I have very good memories of Star, and I'd like to keep it that way."

When first contacted by Us on Wednesday, Walters' rep said, "I
will not dignify this with a comment. Barbara's written words say it all!"

Star Jones is speaking out against Barbara Walters for including her in her new memoir, Audition.

In the book, Walters claims Jones forced her to lie about her gastric bypass surgery on The View. Walters also reveals that she had an affair with then-married Senator Edward Brooke during the 1970s.

Usmagazine.com caught up with Jones (who recently split from husband Al Reynolds) as she left a tennis workout in NYC Wednesday.

“It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book," Jones told Us. "It speaks to her true character.”
