Us Poll: The Sopranos Sleeps with the Fishes

The Sopranos came to its much-anticipated conclusion Sunday night.

New York mob boss Phil Leotardo died, Meadow Soprano announced she was getting married (our best wishes to the guy who would enter this clan), and Tony's fate was left in question by the HBO series' end. It was an action-packed closer, and yet, as with any big hit, expectations were high.

So..my thoughts - the guy that walked into the bathroom (Godfather scene (remember) comes out with a gun and..Goes BLACK!"

Tony got wacked by the guy coming out of the bathroom. That guy was Phil's nephew, Nikki Leotardo, who only once appeared with Phil when they were discussing Vito in the last season. He got revenge. (Verified through the end credits!) Check out the symbolism of the people in the restaurant... you have seen several of them before if you've watched all of the different seasons.

I think the finale was "classic" , just like way in the beginning of the series when David Chase always left us wanting more....this is a perfect example, only there will be no next week to tune in again...it kept us on our toes until the very end...thinking he might get whacked...thank goodness he lives...and life goes on....!!AWESOME!KUDOS to David Chase!!

Funny how some people want to analyze it claiming they can read David Chase's mind and they get it. Face it, the show was a major let down just like the whole season.

Totally lame! The whole show was slow and boring. It was all over the place and it's focused too much on AJ and his negative nonsense. It really was not worth the wait and the writing has really gone sour the past few seasons.

Here's my personal thought...this is ust my opinion.
Every time someone entered the diner, Tony's head would pop up, camera angle would change suddenly and then you saw the door/person entering from TONY'S perspective. Over and Over again...
SO, when we finally were about to see Meadow enter, the door jingles,camera angle is about to make it's switch, but instead it goes BLACK! Tony got whacked! At the same moment Meadow was entering. I think the real question is who whacked him? The guy in the "Members Only" jacket? Meadow? hhhmmm...

I Loved it!! The show didnt need to go out with a bang. It didnt give us a cheap ending, it lets us make up our own ending. It kept us guessing all the way to the end, and the cut to black was genius! Leaves everything up for interperation! The last scene was perfect. His mafia family is all screwed up but the one thing in tony's life thats good and true is still intact. loved the journey at the end. A perfect end to one of the greatest show ever!!! Loves it!

I thought this was not some kind of finely crafted ending -it was a complete puss way out.

Well... definately now time to cancel HBO.
With no more Sex and the City (which had such a fabulous ending), there's no reason to keep it.

I think as a SEASON finale, it would have been of the best for a dramatic show EVER.

As a SERIES FINALE... it feels cheap. There's talk of a film. Eh. If it's over, let it be over. Decide as the show's creator does life just go on for the Soprano family or does he get killed in the diner? Setting up that it could go either way worked so well for the scene and then it just ended.

The whole reference to the conversation at the beginning of this season is irrelevant-Bobby certainly saw his death coming! It was a red herring. Meant to up the tension and suspense later, and it worked.

I just wish Chase would have been more definitive in an ending... even if that ending was just pulling back from the diner and life would just go on for the Sopranos and everyone else.

After eight years and all the money earned off the Sopranos by Chase and co. I felt the ending was really insulting to the show's die-hard fans. It may have been a bold choice, but that doesn't make it a good one.

Life may not always end tidily but the Sopranos isn't real life. It's a story. And stories have a beginning, middle and an end. Chase, in an effort I think to make everyone happy, went for the choose your own ending vague ending. Want Tony to get whacked? You can argue it there. Want Tony to live? You can argue that too. But what happened? Who knows. It's really daring in that if you wanted people talking about it, you got it. But be careful what you wish for! People are talking and a lot of them are not happy!

I loved it! It was beautifully dark and moving; so many things going on in this episode. I think too many people were caaught up with the last five minutes... If anyone is a true fan they know this ending is fitting for the always unpredictable David Chase. Life goes on; Tony will have to deal with an impending indictment, etc. This show is about the mafia, but at its core it is about the banal and profound things that happen in the lives of an American family. Truly a brilliant show that will be missed.

I have been counting down to last night. Even had a BBQ to celebrate. What a bummer. Possibly the worst most boring show I have ever watched. (yes, I did pay attention)Why did they not just end with the words, you have to see the movie we have planned if you want to see what you were waiting for. Or, gee maybe another season. Either way, HBO sucks for promoting that finale that was nothing at all!

Toni- I thought my cable went out too!!! Lol! I was running around trying to find the remote, completely freaking! And then the credits came back on, and there was no music or anything, so we thought we had not only lost the last few minutes, but now we didn't have sound! Then the HBO logo came up and we were just left going... what just happened? :)

I watched last night to enjoy my Husbands favorite show with him. Never really watched it before, too violent for me. I saw bits and pieces in the past shows. Last night was so boring and a major let down.

The Sopranos was one of the best shows on TV ever - the details the irony.. you just have to pay attention to everything from beginning to end... it will be missed for sure.... no matter which way you look at the ending - David Chase is a genius...

To all the people hating Chase for this subtle, riveting episode - get a clue. . . . if you honestly expected some big bang at the end, then you haven't been "getting" the theme of the show during its entire run.

I am sure Chase is reading these negative opinions and is relieved he no longer has to cater to the masses, i.e. the braniacs criticizing his artistry.

I felt like this last season was so rushed. It seemed like they were trying to cram way too much into so few episodes. Chase said that the finale would leave you hanging; it sure did!

I think it was pretty cool. Yes, there were loose ends, just as in real life. Life went on for the Sopranos clan. People need everything handed to them, explained for them, but this show was never about that. A great show that will definitely be missed!

It was Great. The point was to make you think, and get you wanting more Soprano's, in case they make a movie. There could have been more bloodshed, but they tackled that last week. I even thought my cabl went out after the last scene, until I spoke to one of my friends, and the same thing happened to her. Great writing
