Enough about Tim Russert. Lots of Dads love their sons. It is not unique to him. and why doesn't Luke show any emotion? It is kind of scary. No sadness or tears
Monday June 16, 2008
Tim Russert's son Luke appeared on NBC's Today show Monday to discuss the untimely death of his father.
"[We're] hanging' in there, [we] take it day by day," Luke told Matt Lauer (Watch above). "We're holding up as best as can be."
The Meet the Press host, 58, had returned early from a family trip to celebrate Luke's graduation from Boston College. He died at work on Friday after suffering a heart attack.

"I spoke to him at least two to three times a day," Luke said. "It had to do with the election coming up, sports, or just about life. There was always a lot of love from him. We would always hug. There’s not a day that goes by that I have not known my father loves me. For that, I’m eternally grateful."
The 22-year-old also revealed he has a tattoo of his father's initials.

When it was announced that Tim Russert had passed away, i just could not stop watching the news coverage - i liked him so much. Kinda wonder if he was just too good for this place... and i know that he is in heaven now.
Anyway, at the end of watching, i realized something. I want to be a better person! That will be Tim Russert's legacy for me. Just an amazingly sweet, smart, sharp man. And obviously a huge inspiration to so many. Add me to that list.
God bless the family of Tim Russert - give them comfort and strength as they bear this enormous loss. Luke is an amazing young man - everyone should be as lucky to have a dad like Tim, and a son like Luke. Blessings to them all!!
Along with thousands of others today, I attended Tim Russert's wake. To my surprise,I got to converse and shake hands with Tim's widow and sister. What class acts they are to reach out to others who share their grief. The card they passed out with Tim's picture and a prayer on the back also contained the inspirational words: "No exercise is better for the human heart than reaching down to lift up another person."
Tim Russert will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to his wife and son. He may be gone to soon but his memories will be here forever because he was an epitome of a good journalist.
Luke Russert did his father proud today. I can't imagine how hard that interview must have been. He is a class act just like his father.
My condolences go out to the family. Luke Russert was so eloquent and poised in that interview, his father certainly would have been proud. Tim Russert was one of the few members of the news media that I actually respected. He didn't pander to his high profile guests nor did he unfairly grill them. He truly was tough but fair. We're all better for having had him in our lives, if even only as a political moderator. Tim, you will be missed.

Luke looks like his dad. And about that comment about his weight, that was just plain rude.
The comment about his weight is not rude, you dummy, it's an honest concern. But then, you don't have enough intellect to figure that out, do you?

First of all, he's not overweight. Secondly, don't insult my intelligence because I disagree with your opinion. You're rude and obnoxious.

His father would had been so proud of him, what a loss, my condolences to all the family, it's so heartwrenching, I'm sure fathers day was the worst day of their lives. May Russert rest in peace.
What a great interview, Luke held it together and was able to talk about his dad. I am sure this weekend being father day Luke had a emotional weekend. Grief is a strange visitor at times you can talk about your love one like they are still here and than you see something that reminds you of them and the grief kicks in. Seeing Luke touch his father chair and than you see him walk off choked with emotion, was hard to watch. Tim will be missed by us all. He cut to the chase and reported both side of the political isle leaving his own political views out of it in the process. Tim is what we all should strive to be; a good old American boy who loved his God, family and USA. Rest in peace Tim.
It is so wonderful to read the positive messages people have written to pay tribute to Mr. Russert. He will always be a wonderful gift from God.
ONLY ACKNOWLEDGE THE POSITIVE, push through the negative...
Know that God is love and he forgives.

My thought and prayers go to the entire Russert Family, the NBC family and his friends. I loved his charm and intellect. I will greatly miss him!
When someone in the public eye who delivers news and information to us on a daily or weekly basis for more than 15 years you grow an attachment to them. Mr. Tim Russert's passing is a huge loss to the American people, as well as people outside of the US interested in our politics. He was a talented individual with great communication skills and its obvious with media affiliates across the board, he was loved. I feel I won't get the same information in politics that Tim was willing to share.
I lost my father two years ago, and I am still grieving. I can imagine the feeling of loss, and I pray for God to give them the same strenghth God gave me, and continues to give me everyday. God Bless the entire Russert family, the NBC family and his friends.
I will truly miss his intelect and charm every Sunday morning.
God Bless

NBC & MSNBC went from remembering Tim Russett to milking his death as much as they can.
That son is a trooper and stand up young man. He raised hell of a son. His dad should be proud. People grieve differently. I'm sure his heart is aching, but remembering fun memories helps deal with it. He could still be somewhat in shock. The hard part will be the funeral and the coming year when you have to deal with him not being around for the first time for holidays, birthdays, etc.
Wow. That was emotional. Luke is a stellar speaker and I can't believe how composed and eloquent he was.
One can only hope that our children will think of us in such a way after we're gone.
Matt Lauer is amazing too. I think it was so touching that he told Luke the stories of his father, and how he had often spoken of him.
It is truely a sad loss to see such a talented and loved man gone. Many people did not know Tim Russert personely, but I feel we have lost an honest piece of politics. You could always trust him and relay on him to ask the hard questions no one else did. As a young american very interested in politics it is a sad day to realise he will no longer be a part of our lives in this regard. I can only imagine the even greater feeling of lose for those who knew him and loved him. May all blessings and prays go out to his wife, son and Big Russ. He was so proud of his family and I wish more americans aspired to be like he was. Loyal, outspoken but civil and always caring. He will always have made a great affect in the way people think about politics and family.

Don't cry people....everybody dies.
Maybe no one will cry when you die...maybe no one will remember you at all, because heartless people usually have no one to care about them.
As for Luke, he looks a bit overweight and should now try to get fit. His dad was heavy and maybe that's why he had a heart attack so young. I'm sure no one wants to see him end up like his father. Not being callous, just truthful.
10:09--that is so lame.
As for Luke Russert, saw him on the Today show as I was getting ready for work. What a strong kid with a lot of class. I'm 10 years older than him, and when my mom died a year ago, I highly doubt I would have had such composure and eloquence speaking about her so soon after her death. He did his dad proud today.
Tim Russert's son Luke seems to be a great kid and a highly educated one. I hope he follows in his father's foot steps and becomes a great commentator. My thoughts are with their family. It's so sad to lose such a wonderful father at such an early age.
Don't cry people....everybody dies.
Very true, but does that make it easier if someone close to you passes?
Don't cry people....everybody dies.
I never got a chance to say this, but congrats goes out to Barry Watson & his wife, Tracey Hutson, who welcomed their second child & son, Felix, on November 13th, 2007! The couple already have a first child, a boy, named Oliver, who was born on May 2, 2005, etc.
The people that I like make mistakes, as long as they learn from them,? it's all good, etc.
RIP Tim Russert.... You were a great husban, father and son. You will be missed. I will miss your voice on Meet The Press and other MSNBC shows. I will continue to say my prayers for you and your family. Shine down on us and Go Get Em' Brother!!!!!!!
My thoughts & prayers are with the Russert family & their friends during this very difficult time! Also, I just wanted to say congrats to ANTM'S judge & photographer, Nigel Barker and his wife, Cristen Barker, on expecting their second child together! They already have a young son named, Jack! And from now on, I'm going to stop putting ? next to great parents, I don't want to offend anyone, etc.?
