Tom Brokaw to Host Meet the Press Through November Election

 George Napolitano/FilmMagic Former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw will host Meet the Press through the November election, the network announced Sunday. Brokaw will fill in for Tim Russert, who died of a heart attack while at work on June 13. (See Russert and other stars who've gone too soon.) "To have someone of Tom's stature step up and dedicate himself to ensuring its ongoing success is not only a testament to his loyalty to Tim, but his enduring commitment to NBC News and our viewers," NBC News President Steve Capus said in a statement. Brokaw hosted a special edition of Meet the Press in remembrance of Russert on June 15. He will take over the political program next Sunday. "Tim made Meet the Press the center of the universe for informative and lively discussions of public affairs, particularly the exciting 2008 campaign for president, and I intend to continue that commitment to our viewers," Brokaw said. What a wonderful tribute to Tim Russert!! He would be proud that Tom Brokaw has stepped up to fill in for him, and that everyone has dedicated the evening news stories about him. He would be humbled. It's feels like an old friend has died, and my heart breaks for his family, especially his son Luke, who was " his best friend". Meet the press will never be the same, but let's hope that someone will carry on his show with the same dedication and showmanship that he did. God speed Tim. You will will missed.
