Just because Victoria and David Beckham are making the leap from international A-listers to just another Hollywood power couple, don’t think they took the decision lightly. It turns out that their good friend, Tom Cruise, worked the phones pretty hard to lure the faux-hawked footballer, his Posh wife and their three unfortunately-named children Brookyln, 7, and Romeo, 4, and Cruz, 12 months, overseas.

"I was on the phone to him for about an hour last night and an hour the night before,” Beckham, 31, told reporters after he announced he was leaving Real Madrid to sign a lucrative $250 million deal with the L.A. Galaxy January 12. "He is a very wise man and a very good friend of mine. It’s going to be a big help for us to have friends when we arrive in L.A.”

Meanwhile, as Becks pow wowed with Cruise, wife Victoria, 32, was already in L.A., brushing off photographers January 13 and hunting for a new home over the weekend. Among her finds: two pads in the Bel Air area, one, a $15 million 5-bedroom English-style manor (of course), the other, an $8 million mansion just a 10-minute drive from pals Cruise, 44, and his wife Katie Holmes, 28.

Just a warning Katie: The new neighbors may seem like a good idea, but it’s only a matter of time before Victoria’s over the house borrowing your oversized sunglasses, stealing Suri's nanny and showing up to Scientology meetings carrying a Cliff's Notes version of Dianetics.
