Moviegoers continue to support the efforts of Tom Hanks who, the world universally agrees, just seems like a really nice guy! Guinness World Records announced yesterday that Hanks has won the title of Actor with Most Consecutive $100 Million-Grossing Movies, having had seven big box-office films in a row. E! gets excited about it so you don’t have to:

America's favorite movie star started his lucrative streak with Saving Private Ryan ($216.5 million) in 1998 and capped it with 2002's Catch Me If You Can ($164.6 million). [...]

Hanks' next effort is almost sure to prolong his box-office prowess, although $100 million might be aiming a little low.

E! speaks, of course, of the forthcoming Da Vinci Code movie that currently has Opus Dei’s flagellation belts in a twist over the sect's portrayal in the movie and for asserting the theory that Mary Magdalene and Jesus had a child together.

The group recently demanded that director Ron Howard include a disclaimer at the film's beginning. It would read: "This film and the events and characters within it are fictional. Any resemblance of the protagonist's hair to the hair of actual persons, James K. Polk, or Lethal Weapon-era Mel Gibson is unintentional and purely coincidental."
