FACEBOOKI love John Ritter.,But no matter what we do.,there is a high being that has the last say for one`s life. I think that was his time to rest. Sad and if given the choice, i would still want John to live.,but that`s life. Family and Friends should focus more on praying for his soul and stop this court cases and start living peacefully

A cardiologist and a radiologist were cleared of negligence Friday in the wrongful-death trial of actor John Ritter, the Associated Press reports.
Ritter's widow Amy Yasbeck and four children had filed a $67 million lawsuit, claiming that two doctors did not properly treat the actor, who died of a torn aorta in 2003 at the age of 54.
A proper diagnosis would have led to immediate emergency surgery and saved his life, they claimed.
But a California jury found that Ritter was advised by the radiologist to follow up with treatment by a physician but did not do so. The radiologist had completed a body scan on him two years earlier.

A rare victory for common sense. Ritter's estate only saw $$ and were essentially ambulance-chasing whor es looking for another big cash payouts...SORRY, not this time, losers!

John Ritter was one of the most talented actors of his generation, and my heart goes out to his family. I don't truly believe that the case was malpractice, but i hope the medical staff won't loose their reputation.

If he was advised to come in for a follow-up and didn't do so, then it was his fault, not the medical staff's. This is a common problem with many men: They don't want to go to a doctor when they're ill and instead insist they're fine. His widow is just money-hungry and playing the victim, looking for someone to blame. Besides, I agree with some other opinions here: When it's your time, you can't prevent it.

Yes malpractice would pay 67million, if needed. And then they can decide to not cover the doctors involved in the future. Other malpractice carriers can also refuse because of the judgement rendered. Malpractice insurance gets more expensive with every law suit that is filed and lost.
How would these docs be able to practice again in the future with no malpractice coverage?
That's the US system.
I feel badly for the family. I don't think the docs in this case did anything wrong.

Doctors aren't gods and it was John's time to go, even though he was relatively young. Obviously John didn't have the best health AND wasn't following doctor's orders. The family already received $14 million. Even in a litigious society, you have to know when to say when.

Hi,
$67million thats very greedy, when someone dies it natural to blame someone else or to blame it on a course of events but to try and sue someone for $67million! have they ever thought about how it would affect the other parties family? i guess not.
Im glad i live in the UK, we dont get court cases like this!

It was so sad that John Ritter passed away, but I truly believe that when it is your time to go, no matter what you are doing, God takes you home. Noone could have known that he had a problem like this unless he addressed it early in that day it happened, he hadn't been living with that tear for 2 years it is just not possible. I am sorry for his wife and his children, but no amount of money will bring him back...
