I only kind of agree with 10:05 true celebrities should keep their political views to themselves...but tom hanks is a beast actor omg I LOVE HIM!!! well not to much now but he is amazing!!
Monday May 5, 2008
Tom Hanks has joined the ranks of Oprah Winfrey – and Heidi Montag – in making a public endorsement for president.
The Oscar-winning actor posted a brief monologue on his MySpace page backing Barack Obama (Watch above).
"I'm Tom Hanks and I want Barack Obama to be the next president of our country," he says.
"As an official celebrity, I know my endorsement has just made your mind up for you," he quips.
Hanks says the country needs a "seismic shift" and Obama has "the integrity and the inspiration to unify us."

Endorsements mean nothing. Heck, Deval Patrick, Ted Kennedy, and John Kennedy couldn't even deliver Massachusetts for Obama. Oh but one endorsement that is significant is the one by Hamas, which will definitely deliver votes against him.
10:05, I agree with what you said, with the exception of putting Tom down because he's "grown with a MySpace page". There are many, many adults out there with MySpace pages; it doesn't make them "losers". What makes Tom a loser is that he's so arrogant as to think that his opinion actually matters and that we will vote the same because he wants us to.
Tom Hanks is a crappy actor and needs to shut his mouth. He's already made up my mind? What because he says so? Oh, he made a video on his MySpace page telling us so. Please, he's a grown a$$ man that has a MySpace page, what a loser. His endorsement is pathetic and quite honestly, insulting. Don't celebs have jobs? They should keep their political views to themselves, instead of using their status to pursue people and try to fool the public. I hope all you young out there don't fall for these celebrities crappy propaganda. I bet all those Oprah Winfrey floozy followers are going to vote Obama, because Oprah says so. Obama doesn't promise anything. He's wishing upon a star. He's not uniting anyone. Obama will say what everyone wants to hear, and when he gets into office he'll be no different than the crap we already have. McCain wears adult diapers and he'll die in office. He's a piece of junk just like Bush. Clinton all the way baby.
Tom's endorsement of Obama doesn't mean a thing to me, Obama is friends with anti-semetic people, friends with terrorists, his wife, Michelle, is ashamed to be an American, etc. I hope either McCain or Clinton win!? Also, Barack's not even qualified to be president, etc.
Hey Crazyfolks....if you're going to run your mouth about Obama, then at least learn how to spell his name...stupid MF!

You must not be up on your facts! How in the world can you say he has no experience? No Hillary's only experience is crying on the side lines while her hubby was getting his d!ck sucked!. Borack has plenty of experience! He has not only been in politics for years but he wife Michelle is an attornery! a very intelligent one at that!.
McCain for president! Obama makes promises he wont be able to follow through with. Any intelligent person can see his inexperience getting the better of him. He wouldn't stand a chance against McCain.
Obama scares me. He has ZERO experience and qualifications, He belongs to an anti american church and gets his inspiration from a racist and anti american reverend. Not to mention he is friends with terrorists and his wife hates America. You have to be completely stupid and oblivious to vote for Obama. People think things are bad now? Wait till some unqualified liar like Obama gets into office.
I have yet to see ANY integrity in Obama, so far all I have heard about are his mystery plans for change and hypotheticals on what he will change.
He lacks substance and he can't think for himself, does America really want someone who is all talk?
I thought for sure Tom Hanks had substance, guess he pefers the Kool-Aid.
12:31 You would have to be completely arrogant if you think that any of them are being 100% truthful. Campaigning for president is all about what sounds good and appeals to the nation. They are going to say whatever they think you want to hear. I dont doubt that she has lied, but the fact is..they ALL have. She is not the first nor will she be the last. My problem with Obama is that he has been going to that church for 20 years and is trying to play it off as if his pastor just woke up one day and starting spewing this crap?! Highly unlikely! The only thing his pastor has said that I completely agree with, in summary, is that Obama is saying what he has to- to win.
Yes, I would love to see any well-deserving person of ANY color, not just african american, get into office. I would love to see any well-deserving woman get into office. Women have been oppressed and treated like crap longer than ANY race can claim. It would all be a move forward towards equality. However, I will not vote for someone based on this alone if they dont have what it takes to get the job done.
Dave, where in the world do you get your stupid ideas from....obviously you make them up! "Less educated and older people" vote for Hillary...honey...I have a Bachelor's of Science degree and working on my Masters and I am voting for Hillary. You sound(and probably look like)an uneducated idiot.
12:31 PM anyone but Hillary
Talk that talk and preach that preachness!
I doubt I would stop seeing the movies of someone just because they endorsed a candidate I didn't care for. My problem is, why do these celebrities think they are so much more political-savvy than the rest of us? Also, everyone knows that Hollywood is 98% liberal, so if you don't endorse a liberal candidate, you may not get invited to all the "in" parties. It's to most celebrities advantage to endorse a liberal candidate.
It is so obvious that Tom was just being sarcastic and poking fun at the media for asking him who he would vote for knowing a celebrity is not a person of educated influence...educated as in holding some sort of career in politics to have a better understanding of what really goes on and the qualifications one would need. But since they were asking the question he exercised his right to voice his opinion...nothing wrong with that!
TOM HANKS is outa his MIND!! Barock as a visionary, what a bunch of garbage.... Tom have you seen who he has been hanging with for the past 20 years??? Get Real. This is not the man who you think he is. He's been hanging out at a black power church. He's scarry, and realize we have not been bombed in 7 years. Say what you want but there have been no attacts here. Barock does Not have the experience, he only chants "change" heres the deal, "change" ONLY HAPPENS ON THE OUTSIDE. WE need transformation that happens within. Get it. Don't be duped.
Hillary is a pyscho-path, mentally ill liar. The ridiculous stories she's made up -- from her dodging bullets as she ran for cover in Bosnia (blames telling the story for 2 years on being tired?!), how Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on 911 (she was in bed), how she was named for Sir Edmund Hilary after he climbed Mt. Everest (she was 5 when he did), how she knew nothing about all the pardons (they were friends of hers), and the list goes on. All politicians 'lie'. She's the only one I can know that makes up fairy tale stories.
And shame on her -- she's talking about bombing Iran while we're struggling fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? She put our soldiers in Iraq because she was too busy to read the intelligence report provided to her before she voted yes... then said if she had she wouldn't have?
The woman is dangerous!! Tom Hanks knows the Clintons well. So does Oprah and the rest of the ex-Clintons staffers that support Obama. They support him because they know Hillary well and don't like her!!! She is evil.
You guys have Heidi Montag, Angie Harmon, Chuck Norris, & Wilford Brimley. We have all the beautiful, talented people...you know, the real stars.
11:42 AM Jamie Says:
I think he was joking....
And to all of you who said you'll never watch anything with him again, that's being very immature. Every person in this country is entitled to vote for whoever they want to, and just because your views differ with his, doesn't mean anything. I'm sure you have friends / family who have different views than you do. Grow up.
WHO THE HELL CARES WHO HEIDI MONTAG IS GOING TO VOTE FOR. HER AND SPENCER ARE LIKE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH. I USE TO FEEL BAD FOR HER BUT NOW I SEE THAT THEY JUST WANT TO GET ANY PUBLICITY THAT THEY CAN. THEIR REALLY SAD.
If I can vote I vote will for him.
I agree. Obama can move this country forward. McCain will keep us at war, spending 10 billion per month on iraq and continue to reward companies for sending jobs to other countries and leaving the little guy to fight for himself. OBAMA 08
I'm not sure who I'm voting for yet but I think we've got incredible candidates this year and I couldn't be happier. I'm sick of hearing people criticize Hillary. She is well educated, well spoken, and let's not forget we had a great 8 years under Bill Clinton. MUCH better than the last 8 have been! This whole "they're liars" thing has yet to be proven convincingly by anyone. It's usually just people who are bitter about Clinton's infidelity which really has no bearing on my decision, sorry. I don't agree with cheating but I'm rather more worried about foreign affairs. Bill was a very popular president before the scandal.
I disagree with Obama for president, but I do agree with Tom's "As an official celebrity, I know my endorsement has just made your mind up for you." It's nice to see a celebrity with social awareness and a humorous view of his place in the world.
Obama does not need to be president. His minister hates white people and his wife is ashamed to be an American. Obama talks about whites sterotyping blacks but yet he sterotypes whites.
Well Jamie, rather than being insulted, why not use YOUR brain and look up in the dictionary that "quips" means "jokes". His statement is a nod to the fact that he realizes his opinion may not matter at all but he's still putting it out there. I found it funny. He's being facetious. (You may need to look that word up as well).
Wow...picking a president based on complexion just to make history. STUUUUUUPID!!!!!!!!!!
Out of these three candidates,it has to be Obama.McCain would continue to lead this country on the wrong path,it would indeed be a continuation of Bush's policies.Hillary is artificial, and she is a liar ,just like her husband. So much for values...All they care about is getting their power back. She would say or do just about anything to be elected.Do you think it's an accident that less educated and older people vote for her?And women who vote for her just because she is a woman-they must be out of their minds! There is way too much at stake at this election.Obama is the only one who can lead us to the right path, unite this country,so we can catch up with the rest of the world, because they have passed us by.Internationally, the Clintons are very unpopular, and that would be terrible for our relations. When I went to Europe last month, everyone there was excited about Obama...Hill and Bill-Hillbill suck.
oxa you're a moron. I'm sure Tom's really hurt that you'll never watch him again just because you disagree with his political beliefs. (eye roll). Closed minded much?
Not reaaaaaaaally Tom. Why would an actor's endorsement matter? If you were a Nobel prize, a scientific, ANYONE who works with his/her mind instead of playing up emotions for a living, maybe it would matter to me. If you gave valid reasons, but no way, I mean why would you when you can just say "As an official celebrity..."?. Hillary is still my candidate, but even if it was Obama, I found Tom's words insulting.
