So long, scruff!

A week after returning to the air, David Letterman bid farewell to his “strike beard” on his show Monday.

He said he was "being pressured" to shave, although he did not say by whom.

“I’m a little jumpy because I really don’t want to do this because I’ve grown fond of my beard,” he quipped as two barbers first buzzed and then shaved him with a razor at his desk.

“Oh, you’re breaking my heart!” Letterman pleaded, as the hair fell off. “I better not see this on eBay, or I’m coming after you!”

Guest Tom Hanks later surprised him with a first-aid kit for a small cut above his lip.
