Friday July 11, 2008

Usmagazine.com looks back at the week in celebrity news:

- New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez was exchanging text messages with Madonna six months ago, Us Weekly reports in its new issue, on newsstands now. "He [said] he was in love with her," his friend recalls to Us. By February, A-Rod had upped the ante. "He said, 'She's my f--king soulmate, dude,'" the friend tells Us. Meanwhile, six days after Us Weekly broke the news that A-Rod was making late night visits to Madonna's apartment, his wife Cynthia filed for divorce. While Madonna has denied a relationship with A-Rod, Us Weekly reports otherwise. Check out the new issue for the full story on how the Material Girl lured A-Rod away from his newborn, why a friend says he's "totally brainwashed" by kabbalah, how Madonna is thriving on the attention and why her friends think A-Rod is "totally her type." - Former Oakland A and onetime Yankee Jose Canseco revealed that Madonna begged him to impregnate her. In the new issue of Us Weekly, Canseco details how the singer tried to romance him in 1991 even though, like baseball nemesis A-Rod, he was married at the time. "She wanted to get married and have a child with me — she wanted a Cuban child," he tells Us. Conseco recalls: "We went downstairs [at her house in the Hollywood Hills] and she came over and said, "What would you do if I kissed you?' and then she sat on my lap and kissed me." Check out Us' interview with Conseco. (See photos of Madonna's most scandalous moments.)

- Bachelor Andrew Firestone wed Ivana Bozilovic. The pair tied at the knot St. Mark's in the Valley Episcopal Church in Los Olivos, California last Saturday. "Standing at the front of the church and watching Ivana walk down the aisle, I just kept thinking I must be the luckiest man alive to spend the rest of my life with this woman," Firestone told Usmagazine.com. The new issue of Us Weekly has their exclusive wedding album and an interview with the newlyweds filled with all the details of their big day, including who made her dress, where he got his wedding band from, the couple's first dance song and what brought the couple to tears.
