Nightmare on Elm Street director Wes Craven has his own personal "Freddy": Pauly Shore. But instead of a claw-like glove, comedian Shore’s weapon is laziness.

Horror auteur Craven, 67, is suing his neighbor, Shore, 39, for negligence. In court papers obtained by Usmagazine.com, Craven claims that Shore failed to maintain or repair his yard. As a result, Craven alleges that water from Shore's pool, spa and sprinklers sloped onto his property and caused a landslide on December 19, 2006. Craven is asking that Shore pay the cost to repair the damage and other related fees.

We imagine any pre-suit confrontation between the neighbors went much like the one between Shore and Sean Astin’s characters in the 1992 classic, Encino Man, in which Shore’s largely autobiographical “The Weasel” was accused of caring about nothing other than “nuggs, chillin’ and grindage.”

At time of publish, none of the above-quoted words were known to mean “lawn care.”

Still, things aren’t all bad for Mr. Shore, as his yard has merited something he hasn’t been able to for years: a director’s attention.

Reps for Shore and Craven couldn't be reached for comment.
