Yves Saint Laurent Dies

Fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent died Sunday at his home in Paris, the AFP reported. He was 71.

Retired in 2002, he had been ill for some time.

At just 21, he was named the chief designer of the House of Dior.

He founded his eponymous label in 1962.

"His name and the familiar YSL logo became synonymous with all the latest trends," the AFP wrote.

Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Katie Holmes, Victoria Beckham and Lauren Bacall were among his many celebrity fans.

The cause of death was not immediately released.
