File it under things we never thought we’d say, but it looks like frosted lids are making a comeback! While the pearlescent eye look may be giving you ‘80s-era prom flashbacks, two of Hollywood’s leading ladies have proven the shimmery trend can be both modern and chic. Mandy Moore sported silvery lids at an event in NYC this week, while Kristen Stewart continued her stylish streak at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival with an ice queen-inspired eye.
From far away, K.Stew’s opalescent eye looks slightly smokey with just a hint of sparkle, but makeup artist Beau Nelson actually added a bit of Parisienne flair to the actress and Cannes jury member’s look. Playing off the beaded bodice of the Chanel ambassador’s ivory tweed dress, Nelson applied a streak of white winged out liner before adding individual pearls along her lash line. Photographed on the red carpet, the pearls took on a crystal-like effect.
But the look didn’t end there. While the white and pearl liners were plenty frosty on their own, Nelson added some edge in keeping with K.Stew’s rebellious style by smudging a bit of shimmery taupe shadow under the lower lash line and up toward the brow bone. It was both a modern take on the frosted eye, and a daytime version of a smokey eye that we’ll be looking to recreate ASAP.
Mandy got in on the fun with a look that’s perfect for your next night out. The This Is Us star attended a charity event in New York wearing a sexy Monse LBD, Casadei sandals and a chain-strap bag, but it was her throwback hair and makeup that tied the look together.
Celeb Hairstylist Peter Butler gave the Neutrogena ambassador bombshell waves, while makeup artist Matin added some serious glow. Velvety skin and a retro pink lip served as the base for Mandy’s “‘70s vibe” silver eye. Matin used MAC Cosmetics Glitter to create the disco-inspired sparkle, while her luscious lashes came courtesy of Lashify at-home extensions.
So whether your looking for subtle shimmer like Kristen or full on glam a la Mandy, it’s time to be a summertime ice queen.
