‘Get Tressed With Us’ Podcast: Celeb Hair Guru Kristin Ess Talks Summer’s Hottest Trends

We are all about that hair! Here at Stylish, we’ve never seen a hairstyle or trend we couldn’t talk about for days on end, so we started a podcast to dish on all the latest mane news — from hits and misses on the red carpet to celebrity hair gurus’ ‘do dos and don’ts. Each week, Us Weekly beauty director Gwen Flamberg talks with some of the best in the biz about what’s new in hair care, color and style in our Get Tressed With Us podcast. Listen above!

This week, Gwen and Us Weekly senior reporter Travis Cronin caught up with celeb hair guru Kristin Ess. As the brains behind her eponymous haircare line and Lauren Conrad and Lucy Hale’s go-to gal, Kristin knows a thing or two about summer tress trends (think: LC’s iconic braids from her reality TV days and Lucy’s new darker shade), and she spills on her favorite looks of the season.

If you’re looking to have a bit of fun with your hair color without the commitment or upkeep, Kristin has just the product for you. Her $12 Rose Gold Temporary Tint (Lucy is a fan) lasts one to three washes and can provide everything from a subtle pastel tint for brunettes to full on rosé all day strands for blondes. And while on the topic of color, Kristin just took the former Pretty Little Liars star from blonde back to brunette — a reverse on the usual warm-weather lightening up trend — because she says there are no hard and fast rules, and it is all about maintaining healthy hair.

On the summer styling front, the pro is all about the braid. Having created just about every plait imaginable for Conrad over the years, Kristin is always looking for inventive ways to add interest. Right now, she is particularly loving working scarves into her braids and twists, and she says there is wrong way to incorporate the accessory into your ‘do (weave it in, tie it on the outside, wear it as a headband, etc.). Oh, and her Instagram is full of inspiration.
