About

Mike Tindall is a former rugby player and member of the British royal family.

The athlete was born in October 1978 as the son of a banker and social worker. Tindall got his love of sports from his father, who was the captain of the Otley Rugby Union Football Club.

After completing his education in 1997, the England native joined the Bath rugby club as the outside center. Tindall also played for England’s national team, helping them win a World Cup championship in 2003. After a brief reprieve in early 2005 due to a foot injury, the rugby star returned to the sport later that same year to play for Gloucester. Throughout his career, he won 75 matches for England and played in every Six Nations Championship competition from 2000 to 2011.

In December 2010, Buckingham Palace announced that Tindall was engaged to Zara Phillips, the only daughter of Princess Anne and ex-husband Mark Phillips. The couple — who met in 2003 — wed in July 2011, two months after Queen Elizabeth II gave them her blessing. King Charles III’s niece and Tindall share three children: Mia, born in 2014, Lena, born in 2018, and Lucas, born in 2021.
