Taraji P. Henson first got Hollywood’s attention when she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Queenie in David Fincher’s 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She went on to star in I Can Do Bad All By Myself (2009), The Karate Kid (2010), Think Like a Man (2012), Think Like a Man Too (2014) and the critically acclaimed drama Hidden Figures (2016).

Henson has starred on several television shows, including Person of Interest and Empire, the latter of which aired from 2015 to 2020 and earned the actress a Golden Globe Award and two Emmy nominations. Henson lent her voice to films Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022) and PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (2023). She also starred in the 2023 film adaptation of The Color Purple. Henson is the recipient of 11 NAACP Image Awards.

Henson welcomed son Marcell in 1994 with her late boyfriend, William Lamar Johnson. She announced her engagement to former NFL athlete Kelvin Hayden in 2018, but the couple called it quits two years later.
