Daytime Loose Waves

1. To prep Lively for her GMA appearance, Ortega blow-dried her damp mane, using a round brush for extra volume.

2. Next, he sectioned off her hair and used the 1” barrel of the T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Barrel Styling Wand to create loose waves, curling 1-inch sections at a time.

3. Giving a boost to the loose waves, Ortega took some of the smaller sections and, using the same 1″ barrel, made certain curls a little tighter to create a “swirly” effect.

4. To finish, the stylist gathered a small piece of her hair from the front and twisted it up into a small mini-bun, pinning it in place.

Parted-Down-the-Middle Low Ponytail

5. Before the beauty stepped back out onto the streets of NYC, Ortega, holding onto the same loose waves, slicked them back into a low, deconstructed ponytail.

6. He then smoothed the hair on the top of the head down and secured the ponytail with an elastic.

7. For additional texture, Lively’s hairstylist went back to the 1” barrel of the Styling Wand to create additional waves.

8. He spritzed the whole thing with hairspray and sent her on her way.

Glossy Bombshell Waves

Big bombshell waves completed Blake Lively’s bubblegum pink ensemble while out in NYC on April 21.

9. Before she stopped back out of her Big Apple hotel, Ortega wanted to create larger curls, so he switched over to the 1.5″ barrel.

10. Grabbing larger sections, he wrapped the hair away from her face and curled, creating larger waves. (Note: For the most body possible, Ortega made sure to curl all the waves in the same direction.)

11. Then he finished with hairspray.

Pin-Straight (But With Volume!)

Straight shooter! Lively visited the Tonight Show on April 21 while modeling smooth and sleek locks.

12. Ditching the big waves for a visit to The Tonight Show, Ortega grabbed the T3 SinglePass X 1.5” Wide Flatiron to and straightened Lively’s hair until it was smooth and sleek.

13. A hairspray finish held the look in place.

Sleek Half-Updo

Blake Lively finished her day of hairstyle changes with an elegant half-updo on April 21.

14. And finally, for her last street style look, the stylist utilized Lively’s already straightened hair and pulled back the top and side sections of the hair for a “chic, ’70s-inspired half-up, half-down look,” he explained. (The perfect complement to her retro ensemble.)

15. He did one more pass over her hair with the flatiron, making sure there were no rogue waves peeking through.

16. Ortega did one last round of hairspray to set the ‘do. Fin!
