Patricia Arquette didn't get a manicure for the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 22, and threw some shade at E!'s Mani Cam on the red carpet.

She was happy to see it go! Patricia Arquette threw some shade at E!’s red carpet now-obsolete Mani Cam ahead of the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 22, outside of the Dolby Theatre in L.A.

The star, 46, who’s a frontrunner to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Boyhood, made fun of E!’s red carpet fixture for the past few awards seasons. “There was this silly Mani Cam going on,” she noted of the zoomed-in feature that would show stars’ colorful claws at awards shows.

Instead, Arquette skipped her mani on Sunday in favor of launching a new philanthropic site called Givelove.org, she noted on the red carpet. Arquette’s rather vocal statement comes after numerous A-list stars including Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Julianne Moore have opted against flaunting their nails in the video feature this past awards season.

While she wasn’t big on the manicure game on Sunday, Arquette wowed in a custom black and cream gown designed by Rosetta Getty. According to the nominee, Getty “has impeccable taste” and was her first choice for Oscars night.

“She was my best friend since she was 7 or 8 years old,” Arquette gushed of the designer, “and I remember [once when] we were playing with her Barbie doll house. She said, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ And I said ‘an actress’ and she said ‘fashion.’ When I got nominated I knew I wanted her to design it and I feel like she’s here with me.”

Getty returned the love in a release to Us Weekly announcing Arquette’s choice to wear her design for the special evening. “It was easy to design a dress for Patricia since we have been best friends for years,” Getty noted. “When we were young, we always dreamed about how she would be an actress and I would be a fashion designer. Now, after all these years, I am so honored to dress Patricia and to not only celebrate what an amazing woman she is but also her nomination for supporting actress in Boyhood.”

Joining Arquette on the red carpet on Sunday was her daughter Harlow, as well as her sister Rosanna Arquette, brother Richmond Arquette, and her boyfriend Eric White.
