She knows what she wants! Victoria Beckham has been hoarding makeup samples in a box since she was 18 years old. And on August 15, she revealed that her treasure trove of cosmetics and skincare is the muse behind her collaboration with Estée Lauder.
Beckham’s stash consists of “tiny, tiny little worn-down samples, and little eye shadows I’d mix myself,” the Victoria Beckham designer, 42, explained to Vogue of the inspiration behind her collection. The 14-piece capsule will be available come September on EsteeLauder.com and VictoriaBeckham.com.
For her first dive into beauty, Beckham, who married David Beckham in 1996, wanted everything to be perfect. “It was really about not compromising and creating pieces that I wanted to wear myself,” she noted, explaining that, for example, in lipstick, “I don’t want a red-red. [I want an orange-red that’s] a bit younger, a bit fresher, more modern.”
Her ultimate goal is to help women everywhere. “I want to make it really, really easy to get this look,” the mom of Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 13, Cruz, 11, and Harper, 4, explained of her own glam. “If I can do it as a busy working mom with four children, anybody can. You don’t have to be a professional makeup artist. This doesn’t have to take up huge amounts of time.”
To simplify the process, Beckham put together limited-edition boxes of eight products that represent each of her four favorite cities: New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles (prices have not yet been revealed). New York’s box, for example, is all about statement color, while L.A.’s is more natural.
