There's nothing wrong with a little bit of glam! And YouTube makeup artist NikkieTutorials is on a mission to prove it. Noticing that more and more people were being shamed into believing that being a beauty junkie is a "crime," Nikkie hopped on the video-sharing site to post a special video in which she made up only half of her face.
"I feel like lately makeup shaming has become a thing," Nikkie captioned the tutorial she shared more than a month ago. "It's as if putting makeup on to have fun is a shame. Therefore, I thought it would be cool to show you the power of makeup. A transformation. Because makeup… is FUN! Hope you enjoy & thanks for watching!"
She also added at the end of the video (which now has more than 17 million views), "By no means do I want to say that if you have insecurities, you should just slab makeup on, feel a little better, and just never be content with your own self. I just want people to know that makeup is fun! And there are no rules."
Turns out, a whole lot of ladies agreed with her message. Inspired by Nikkie, makeup lovers everywhere started taking half-made-up selfies and sharing them via Instagram. The result? The fierce #PowerOfMakeup movement. Watch Nikkie's video above, and scroll down to see some of the beautiful ladies inspired by Nikkie's words!
