Even Dutch supermodel Doutzen Kroes has qualms with how her job can affect women's self-esteem.

“Sometimes it makes me feel guilty now that I am in this profession that makes certain girls insecure,” the 28-year-old Victoria's Secret Angel told Page Six. Kroes, who currently has a contract with L'Oreal and has graced the covers of Vogue and Elle, was commenting on the new Model Alliance legislation which looks to protect models under the age of 18 and was signed last week by Gov. Cuomo. A top-earning model on Forbes' list, the wife and mom has been advocating on behalf of the Model Alliance, a non-profit that looks to improve working conditions for women and girls in her industry. Kroes is married to DJ Sunnery James, with whom she has a 2-year-old son, Phyllon Joy Gorre.

"I always say, I don’t look like the picture," she added of her discomfort with being airbrushed to perfection in photoshoots. "If you put me in bad light with no hair and makeup, it’s not good . . . I wake up sometimes like, this is not what I see when I look at the magazine, who is this visitor in the bathroom?"

Doutzen is not the only supermodel to remark on the rampant use of image manipulation used to project flawlessness. Fellow Angel Erin Heatherson said in 2012, "Photoshop makes things look beautiful just as you have special effects in movies." She added, "You look better, but it's a lie."
