Every bride wants to look as gorgeous as possible on her wedding day — and celebrity brides are no different! Some of them may have the benefit of personal trainers and chefs to keep their arms, abs, legs, everything super-fit 365 days a year. But still, they want to look their absolute best when they walk down the aisle — whether it be in Hollywood or some exotic locale. And their fitness and diet regimens leading up to their vows reflect that. Take Jennifer Lopez, for instance. When the star started to get ready to wed — for the fourth time! — to baseball legend Alex Rodriguez, she was determined to look hotter than ever. And her trainer Dodd Romero — who focuses on resistance training and weightlifting rather than cardio, which was J.Lo’s previous favorite — developed a plan to make that happen. “My philosophy is tiny and tight. My goal is to make her tiny and tight, not bigger and bulky,” he told Us Weekly exclusively in January 2019. Other betrothed women, like Katy Perry, focus simply on staying active. The American Idol host frequently goes on hikes with her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, and is a fan of yoga, bike riding and jumping rope. Some couples even get in shape together for the big day. Bachelor Nation’s favorite engaged couple, Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon, signed on as South Beach Diet ambassadors and both started doing the diet! After that, they never battled over what to eat for dinner. With the diet plan meals in their freezer, Iaconetti told Us in February 2019, “we agree on what we're going to have and we know to stick to that plan.” She’s also stepping up her fitness efforts. “I like P.volve and I like Pilates, so kind of low impact and more muscle movement and less cardio,” she shared. After she began working out with her trainer, Dodd Romero, in spring 2018, Lopez traded in her cardio and stretching sessions for strength training. And it’s paid off in plenty of time for her wedding to Alex Rodriguez. “I would say she's at least 10 years younger already. We're still on that process of rejuvenation and shrinking and tightening and lifting,” Romero told Us in January 2019. As for her diet, JLo — who said “yes” to Rodriguez in March 2019 — strictly sticks to whole foods. “We try to keep everything organic and we stay away from processed foods, anything in a box or a can she won't eat,” Romero said. Being engaged to a former professional athlete also helps her gym game. When they work out together, notes their pro, “they encourage each other to keep improving and keep pushing each other to get stronger, and more reps and better form. They are very supportive of one another.”

Katherine Schwarzenegger

As she prepares to wed movie superhero Chris Pratt — who she’s been engaged to since January 2019 — Schwarzenegger is sticking to the healthy habits she’s already developed, and then some. “I'm really into Pilates right now and hiking,” the author told Us in December 2018. “I have a dog, so being able to go on hikes and get to be outdoors is really great for me.” That means she burns extra calories traipsing around her fiance’s 100-acre farm in Washington state. As for eating right, she depends on meal delivery: “I don’t really know how to cook, so having that option has been helpful!” she confessed to Us.

The fiancés who diet together, get in great shape for their wedding together! Bachelor in Paradise’s Ashley Iaconetti, a.k.a., Ashley I, and Jared Haibon — who got engaged in June 2018 — signed on to the South Beach Diet as ambassadors to slim down. And it worked! “I've actually lost 5 pounds,” Haibon told Us in February 2019. And Iaconetti noticed a difference in her midsection within the first week. “I remember being on it for just about five days and really sticking to it and showing [Jared] my stomach and being like, 'Can you believe how I just slimmed out that quickly?' Of course I'm young, so it's easy to tone up really quick, but I remember how flat my stomach was and I hadn't seen it like that in a while and it was really exciting.” In the gym, Iaconetti likes to do Pilates and P.volve. “Those things get your heart moving enough for you to hit the satisfactory in cardio exercise, but just not being straight running or the elliptical and stuff like that because that makes me dread going to the gym," she told Us. "But muscle movements — slow, tiny muscle movements — I see results and I don't dread it."

There’s not an outdoor hike that Perry would turn down! And it’s a bonus if it involves Orlando Bloom, her fiancé since Valentine’s Day 2019. As for indoor classes, the American Idol judge likes to do yoga — sometimes with pals like Nicole Richie. As for a bridal workout, trainer Harley Pasternak, who has worked with Perry over the years, suggests focusing on individual body parts. “Every single day you can do five minutes of resistance exercise. A different body part each day,” he’s told Us. “Arms are the most important of a body for a bride-to-be as they are generally the only skin revealed. So exercises like aligned dumbbell tricep extension, dumbbell lateral raise for your shoulders and a palm-up bicep curl.” Other than that, step up your movements, literally. Pasternak suggests that his clients wear a pedometer and hit 10,000 steps — about 5 miles — a day. “But if you’re a bride-to-be,” he advises, “take it up to 12,000 steps per day… So if you are doing that and if you’re eating properly and you’re doing the resistance exercises, you could start to see a change in the first week.”
