Despite appearances, celebrity moms are mere mortals with real bodies just like the rest of Us. And while many in the spotlight lose pregnancy weight fast for specific acting roles or other reasons, many do their post-baby slim downs on their own time frame. No matter the methods employed, losing the baby weight is hard work. And Us salutes the brave Hollywood women who have debuted their post-baby body transformations in 2019. Everyone from Pippa Middleton — who made a splash in a white bikini about two months after giving birth — to Jana Kramer to Kenya Moore to Kate Upton have showed off their postpartum figures this year. While the women used different diets, eating plans and fitness regimens, one thing’s for sure: Stars know a lot about health, wellness and weight loss. Even if some of them have the benefit of personal trainers and chefs, it still takes discipline to change your habits after a major life event — and you can learn a lot by following their techniques. And they’ve also faced their own share of challenges at the gym and with their former exercise routines. As Carrie Underwood noted on Instagram two months after welcoming her second son, “I’m going to be honest, ‘bouncing back’ after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately,” she wrote, adding in a relatable note that she felt “my body has not belonged to me.” Yet she still shared an inspirational message with fans and other new moms: “I’m going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as I’m always working towards my goals, one day I’ll reach them. On October 7, 2019, the Jessica Jones star stepped onto the red carpet for the first time since welcoming her first baby, son Bruce, at the end of July — and she did it in style. Ritter wore a black tulle dress with a see-through bodice to the L.A. premiere of Netflix’s El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. On her way to the event, Ritter posted a selfie from the car expressing gratitude to her glam team. “Thank You to my girls for making this Mommy UP! @ilariaurbinati @amynadinemakeup@pamwiggy #2monthspostpartum 🙌🏻,” she wrote.

Three months after welcoming her son, Adler, the Girl Meets World star wowed on the red carpet at the 9th Annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards in Beverly Hills on October 5, 2019. Wearing a short-sleeve animal print dress, Fishel, 38, told Us Weekly that she hasn’t done much to slim down. “It hasn’t been on my mind, truthfully,” she said. The actress noted that she’d decided weight loss wouldn’t be a priority for her even before she knew her baby would require extra care since he was born a month early. “I don’t want that energy or that mindset so I have looked at it like, ‘My body’s going to do what it’s going to do and I’m going to embrace it,’” Fishel told Us, adding, “Look, my body’s going to be different! My hips are wider and I’m like, ‘Alright, I’m going to dress for it!’”

Third time’s another charm! Just six months after welcoming baby No. 3, daughter Birdie, in March 2019, Simpson revealed that she’d dropped 100 pounds! “6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240 😜),” she captioned her Instagram photo on September 24. “My first trip away from #BIRDIEMAE and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder.” The fashion designer, who trains with pro Harley Pasternak, also has daughter Maxwell, 7, and son Ace, 6, with her husband, Eric Johnson.

Troian Bellisario

Ten months after welcoming her first daughter (with Patrick J. Adams) in October 2018, the Pretty Little Liars alum dazzled at the premiere of Where’d You Go, Bernadette in NYC on August 12, 2019. Always dedicated to fitness, the actress started working out with her trainer, Amy Rosoff Davis, less than two months post-birth. At the time, Rosoff Davis told Us Weekly their sessions consisted of a combination of stretching, Pilates moves and cardio. “We start with some yoga just to stretch things out. I’m always into making sure my clients can feel what’s going on inside of their bodies,” the pro told Us. Next up is a Pilates mat session “to just sort of say hello to her abs and wake them up,” she noted. After core work and some booty strengthening moves, Bellisario would do about 10 minutes of cardio, performing a combo of jump rope, jumping jacks and kicks. Added the trainer, “Troian is just a superwoman anyway. She looks amazing as it is.”

Long known for her impressive workouts and clean diet, the “Cry Pretty” singer (left, in November 2018) admitted she had more trouble “bouncing back” after her second pregnancy than her first. Yet less than three months after welcoming son Jacob with husband Mike Fisher, she stunned on the red carpet at the ACM Awards on April 7, 2019. But as the 36-year-old star shared with her Instagram followers in March, she kept running and strength training even though she couldn’t lift as much or do as many reps as she could “a year ago.” No matter what her scale read, it was all worth the effort. “I just want to feel like myself again...for my body to feel the way that I know it can,” she wrote.

So glad I can start my #fitnessjourney to get strong again right in my living room. My baby girl can sleep while I fit in a quick 30min workout.”

The 90210 alum welcomed her first baby, daughter Bowie, with her husband, Josh Beech, on September 27, 2018. One week later, she shared a photo of her postpartum body on Instagram. "I won't lie,” she wrote, “while I was so excited to welcome baby girl, I was really nervous about how insecure I would feel in the days that followed about my body and my belly without a baby in it anymore. Not important in comparison to the excitement and love and joy I knew I'd be feeling but a valid feeling nonetheless." About five months later, on February 19, 2019, the actress, 29, flashed her slim midriff out in L.A.

The Happy Together star welcomed her first baby, daughter Ava, with husband Andrew J. West, on her own 32nd birthday on October 7, 2018. The 22 Jump Street actress was fit and fabulous less than four months later IN L.A. on February 16, 2019. The star, who has talked about loving hot yoga, has always been sure to keep her diet healthy and clean. “I love a good green juice, almonds, or any fruit or baby carrots with hummus or guacamole,” she has said. “I never have any snacks in my house that would make me feel guilty. Fuji apples are great for my sweet tooth!”

A month after giving birth to her first baby, daughter Brooklyn, with husband Marc Daly, in November 2018, the then 47-year-old former Real Housewives of Atlanta star shared a snap of herself in a white bikini. “I’ve always been healthy and worked out my entire life,” she wrote on Instagram. “Whatever my body will do I’m not rushing it. It feels good to start to feel myself again.” On February 2, 2019, the reality star looked as fit as ever on an Atlanta red carpet.

The country singer wasted no time slimming down after the birth of her second child with Mike Caussin, son Jace, on November 29, 2018. (See her impressive figure less than two months later on January 18, 2019, right.) The "Whine Down with Jana Kramer" podcast host, 35, had a head start, after all, staying in shape her entire pregnancy with a strength training routine she shared exclusively with Us Weekly. “She got some slack for working hard because she gets a lot of negative criticism since her bounce back was so fast, but it's because she had a lot of discipline throughout her pregnancy,” her personal trainer Erin Oprea told Us in February 2019. “We worked out consistently and not every workout was hard and things weren't always intense, but we worked out consistently till the day before the baby was born and so her bounce back was quick. I contribute so much of it to her eating. She's a clean eater and she's gorgeous.”

The 36-year-old The Handmaid’s Tale actress welcomed her first child, a son, with husband Tim Loden on October 15, 2018 — then wowed less than three months later on the red carpet at the January 6 Golden Globes. As the Dexter alum has said previously, she prefers to skip the gym and do outdoor activities like hiking, running and swimming to keep herself fit.

In typical family fashion, Middleton impressed fans across the globe with her fast slim down after welcoming her first baby, son Arthur, with husband James Matthews in October 2018. By the December and January 2019 holidays, Middleton seemed to have her former figure back, right down to her impressive muscle tone, when she hit a St. Barths beach in a white bikini. As a source told Us of the 35-year-old younger sister of Duchess Kate, “Pippa is an avid exerciser and athlete. She worked out throughout her entire pregnancy. When you’re that fit to begin with, your body snaps back even quicker.” And, indeed, it was Middleton’s goal. “As the pregnancy months roll on, keeping active — even for a sport fanatic like me — is getting increasingly challenging,” she wrote in a fitness column for British grocery chain Waitrose before she gave birth. “But I’m determined to keep agile in preparation for labour, delivery and post-natal recovery.”
