The Bachelor in Paradise star, who was also a suitor on JoJo Fletcher’s season of the Bachelorette, has a secret weapon for looking shredded on TV: “I try to [do the] keto diet every time before I go onto a show,” he told Us at The Public House in NYC on February 22, 2019. “I normally eat a lot of carbs and a lot of meat but that’s because that’s what helps you gain muscle. But right before I go on the show, about a week out, I’ll cut out all carbs, go straight keto and I drop probably five to seven pounds of fat within a week — or at least visibly appear to have dropped five to seven pounds.” It was the science of the high-fat, low-carb diet that originally made him want to try it. “The keto diet is by far the quickest way to lose weight. Carbs are energy, so in the keto diet, if you cut out the energy, your body is forced to burn its own fat for energy,” he explained. “So it’s technically the easiest way to lose weight.”
