Ali Larter Shares Her Banana-and-Pecan Pancake Breakfast Hack

“A complete hot mess.” That’s how Ali Larter describes mornings at home with her kids Teddy, 5, and Vivienne, 19 months. “They’re like reared up, ready to go and I am not,” the actress tells Us Weekly Video. Which is why Larter preps her famous banana-and-pecan pancakes in advance. (Watch her whip them up in the exclusive clip above!)

“One day when you have a little extra time, you make a big container of the dry mix, which is your flour, your baking powder, your cinnamon and things like that,” says the Kitchen Revelry cookbook author. “I quadruple a recipe, then I just keep it in a big Ball jar so in the morning you just have to throw a few things together.”

The 40-year-old, who stars in the upcoming Fox series Pitch, also recommends preparing the wet mix before going to bed. Explains Larter: “It just takes away a little bit of stress and a little bit of hassle.”

Meanwhile, Teddy and Vivienne (whose dad is Larter’s husband, Hayes MacArthur) aren’t just sitting at the table waiting for their food to be served. “My kids get involved,” says Larter. “My son loves peeling the bananas, he loves cracking the eggs and it’s fun.”

But Teddy doesn’t just pitch in at breakfast time. “Teddy’s an amazing cook! He’s cooked with me since the day he was born,” the Varsity Blues alum told Us Weekly on August 27. And her eldest is an adventurous eater too.

“He likes steak, broccoli, corn peas and Parmigiano-Reggiano,” raves Larter. “I’m like, ‘Can you take it down a notch please? This is ridiculous!’”
