Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are ready to start decorating a nursery! The couple, who are expecting their first child, know the sex of their baby — and they plan to announce if it’s a boy or girl around their upcoming January 12 wedding.
“We have to be careful not to slip!” the season 22 Bachelor told Us Weekly exclusively.
Burnham, 26, had a feeling about whether she and her fiancé would be shopping for pink or blue onesies. “I will say that the entire time I’ve had an inkling that it was one or the other,” the Phoenix, Arizona-based real estate agent told Us.
Luyendyk Jr. shared the same sentiment. “We were correct,” the race car driver explained. “But I think either way, we’re so excited.” Son or daughter, the parents-to-be didn’t have a preference. Noted Luyendyk Jr.: “I think we both were not really leaning one way or the other.”
Us Weekly broke the news on Wednesday, November 14, that the Virginia Beach native is pregnant. “We weren’t trying, but we are so excited,” Luyendyk Jr. gushed to Us. Burnham was in such disbelief that she took seven tests just to be sure!
Though Burnham had a rough trimester — October was especially brutal — the morning sickness seems to have finally passed. “Over the last week I’ve started feeling a lot better,” she told Us. “It’s nice to have my energy back.”
The reality stars got engaged during ABC’s After the Final Rose episode in March, and will continue planning their Hawaiian nuptials, which will take place at the Haiku Mill in Maui. “The first thing we thought of was, ‘Oh my gosh. Our wedding,’” Burnham admitted. “Obviously we’re not married yet, but this is the way it happened — and this is probably the way it was meant to happen!”
While the TV personalities were not actively trying to conceive, both were vocal about wanting to start a family. In October, Burnham told Us: “I want babies soon!”
