The blushing Beckhams! Soccer stud David Beckham told a rather embarrassing story about his teenage son Brooklyn‘s first ever date while appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden this week.
The best and worst part of the proud papa’s tale? His look-alike son was in the audience to witness everything.
David, 39, explained how he was instructed by his famous wife Victoria Beckham to accompany their son during his first date, which also happened to be a Valentine’s Day dinner.
“On his first date, which he was about 14 and a half. Victoria was actually in London, and it was Valentine’s Day. So, he said, ‘I’d love to take this girl to dinner,'” the soccer pro revealed. “I said, ‘Okay, great.'”
Like any good husband, he then spoke to his wife, who allowed it, with one condition. “She said, ‘Okay, make sure you take him. Then, make sure you sit in the restaurant.’ So I was like, ‘Really? You’re going to make me do that?’ and she said, ‘Yep, that’s the only way I’m going to let him go.'”
The famed athlete took his son and his date to a small sushi restaurant, where his son sat at the bar and dad sat five tables back. “By the way, my daughter is 4 years old,” David noted of little Harper, “and when she gets to that age, I will get closer than that.”
Brooklyn, meanwhile, looked mortified as he witnessed his father discuss his first date with strangers. The oldest of four kids (including brothers Romeo and Cruz) recently turned 16, and received the sweetest shout-out from his dad on Facebook.
“Happy Birthday to my big boy xx,” David wrote on Mar. 4, alongside two photos of Brooklyn, including one of him as a baby, and one of the scion today.
