Willie Robertson is gonna be a grandpa! The Duck Dynasty alum’s daughter Rebecca Robertson Loflin and her husband, John Reed Loflin, are expecting their first child together.
“I’m almost 15 weeks now,” Rebecca — who is due January 15 — tells Us Weekly exclusively.
The first person Rebecca, 29, shared her pregnancy news with was not John — but rather her 15-year-old sister, Bella. “I wanted to tell him on his birthday,” Rebecca explained to Us. Together Rebecca and Bella devised the perfect way to surprise the businessman. “I bought a little baby denim jacket cause me and my husband both love denim jackets and we always wear matching stuff,” the Duck and Dressing boutique owner revealed. But when Rebeca gave John the coat, he thought it was for their well-dressed French bulldog. It wasn’t until he saw the pregnancy test that he realized what was happening.
“He was shocked and like, ‘Wait, what!?’” Rebecca recalled. “He was just crying then, of course, I was laughing the whole time.”
Willie, 46, and Korie Robertson, 44, were just as shocked as John. “My mom was like, ‘Oh my god! Ah! Ah!’ And then she started crying and she was like, ‘Are you feeling okay?’” the mama-to-be told Us. (Rebecca came to live with the Robertson family as an exchange student from Taiwan when she was 16, and though they have not legally adopted her, they consider her one of their children.)
Rebecca and John — who tied the knot in December 2016 — will learn the sex of their baby on July 30. While both are just praying for a healthy child, Rebecca suspects John wants a son. “I think John Reed is thinking like, he wants to show his boy how to play drums and go hunt and you know,” she said. “But of course girls can do all of that too.”
If the new parents need help, Willie and Korie are just steps away from them in West Monroe, Louisiana. Rebecca and John have been living across the street while their new home is being renovated. “My mom doesn’t want us to move. She’s like, ‘Just stay here!’” Rebeca told Us. “That may be a good idea, just so we’ll be close to the family if we need anything.”
Duck Dynasty aired from 2012 to 2017 and centered around the Robertson family and their duck call business.
