Alec Baldwin plans to be a very hands-on dad — including when it comes to picking out the name! The 30 Rock actor's pregnant wife, Hilaria Thomas, visited The Rachael Ray Show on Friday, March 1 and opened up about their excitement to welcome their first child together.
"At this point, before the baby is born, he thinks he's going to be Mr. Mom," the mom-to-be explained of her husband. "We'll see if at 3 o'clock in the morning when the baby is screaming and we need to change the diaper if he's going to be Mr. Mom at that point."
Thomas, a 28-year-old yoga instructor, and Baldwin, 54, married in June 2012. The couple announced they are expecting on Feb. 12 and are already brainstorming baby names.
"[Alec] had the idea for Massimo the other day. It's a lovely name, I just don't know," Thomas said with a smile on her face. "That's a very big name for a very little baby."
But Thomas says she and Baldwin, who is already dad to 17-year-old daughter Ireland with ex-wife Kim Basinger, have a different baby name idea "almost every single day." And she would rather wait and make a last-minute decision.
"I think you actually have to look at it once it pops out and say, 'Who are you? What is your name?'" Thomas explained.
But the first-time mom-to-be does plan to find out the gender of their baby ahead of time. "Somebody gave me some really great advice which was, you’re going to find out eventually," she said. "It's going to be a surprise eventually, so why not have the surprise sooner? It’s like Christmas sooner!"
