Married at First Sight’s Jamie Otis Posts Heartbreaking Message to Baby She Miscarried

Married at First Sight’s Jamie Otis shared a heartbreaking message to the baby she miscarried, via a post to Instagram on Saturday, July 16, saying that she and husband Doug Hehner are going to pick a name for their son.

“Not a day goes by that I don’t wake up thinking of you, Baby Hehner,” the reality star, 30, captioned a sweet collage of the couple in happier times. “I know I have to get back to ‘normal life’ but I just don’t know how to. Today daddy and I are going to pick out a perfect name for you. We love you so much. I hope you’re bouncing on clouds and feeling loved all the way up in heaven. #ourangel #LoveYou #angelbaby.”

One day earlier, Otis posted a telling quote in honor of her baby: “We never had the chance to play, to laugh, to rock, to wiggle. We long to hold you, touch you now and listen to you giggle.”

On Thursday, July 14, the former Bachelor contestant revealed the devastating news of her miscarriage, just a little over a week after she and Hehner announced their baby news on the Today show.

“My heart is so heavy,” she wrote of the loss of their baby. “There are no words to express the pain and sorrow associated with losing our baby Hehner.”

Otis, who is a nurse, detailed how she and Hehner had been in the middle of planning a gender-reveal party when they learned that their baby had stopped kicking, despite having a strong heartbeat just one week prior.

“Doug, my husband, and I were very optimistic going into this doctor’s appointment. Like I said, I was literally on Facebook planning our gender reveal party,” she wrote. “Until the doctor flat out said, ‘The prognosis is very poor and there is nothing you can do to help it. You have very little amniotic fluid for the baby.’ I’m a nurse so I know how important amniotic fluid is for growth and development, but I just couldn’t believe my ears.”

Hehner also grieved his wife’s miscarriage in a touching Instagram post on Wednesday, July 13. “#BabyHehner even though you could only leave us with your footprints, you will forever remain in our hearts,” he wrote. “@jamieotis and I love you! Thank you everyone for your love and support.”

The couple met on season 1 of Married at First Sight and documented their life together on the spinoff series Married at First Sight: The First Year.
