January Jones has many talents. But none of them involve colored pencils.
“I’m very artistic in my mindset but I can’t paint or draw or sing or dance,” the 40-year-old told Us Weekly at the General Public x RH Celebration in West Hollywood on Wednesday, June 27. Jones’ 6-year-old Xander knows his way around a box of crayons, however.
“My son is more artistic than I am!” the Last Man on Earth actress quipped to Us. “I cannot paint, I’ve tried. It looks terrible.”
Earlier this month, the Mad Man alum joked to Us that she was “happy” Xander is on summer vacation. “I don’t have to wake up and take him to school!” she said. “We’ll be in the pool. He just loves swimming and hanging out with buds. I try to give him the most quote unquote normal experience I can.”
Jones told Us on Wednesday that she and Xander will be escaping Los Angeles for “some little trips” and then one big one to Majorca, Spain.
Though motherhood is Jones’ favorite role, she admitted in January that it “limits” her sex life. “Because you can’t bring someone home when your kid’s coming into the room,” she told Violet Gray. “Honestly, my son turns up in the middle of the night and asks for a massage, and then I fall asleep. I imagine that’s what marriage is like?”
Jones, who welcomed Xander in 2011, has kept the identity of his father a secret. “I knew I would be raising my son alone,” she told The Edit in 2013. “It was something I went into knowingly, I was prepared mentally — and I was excited about it.”
