Kerry Washington Gives Birth, Welcomes Second Child With Nnamdi Asomugha

Time to break out the red wine! Kerry Washington and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, have welcomed their second child together, E! News confirms.

The Scandal actress, 39, and NFL player Asomugha, 35, named their baby boy Caleb Kelechi. He arrived on October 5.

Us confirmed in May that the couple were expanding their family. The ultra-private pair married in Hailey, Idaho, in June 2013, and are already parents of daughter Isabelle, 2.

Washington first publicly acknowledged her second pregnancy when she attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in NYC in May. Clad in a sparkly Marc Jacobs dress, she cradled her growing belly while walking the red carpet.

Four months later, the Confirmation star turned heads at the Emmy Awards. She wore a cutout Brandon Maxwell gown paired with Fred Leighton jewels and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.

Following the show, Washington opened up about her pregnancy, which she hid while filming season 6 of Scandal. “I’m an only [child] so every time the family grows it brings up a little bit of anxiety,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “But it’s fantastic. I’m really happy.”

Last year, Washington revealed what her biggest hope is for Isabelle, who is now a big sister. “I just want her to know that she’s heard. Really heard, because I feel like that is what we all really want,” she said in Marie Claire’s April 2015 issue. “When I think about any of the missteps in my life that I’ve made, all of which I’m grateful for, it’s because I just so wanted to be truly seen and heard for who I am and was afraid I wasn’t or wouldn’t be. I see you, I hear you, I’m with you as you are.”
