Eva Longoria spoke to Us Weekly in February 2016, ahead of her wedding to Jose “Pepe” Baston, about their relationship and the possibility of having kids with the businessman — who she called an “amazing dad.”
“You know, it’s not even little things he does for me it’s what he does for my friends, my family,” Longoria told Us about her then-fiancé. “The way he is with the waiter at the restaurant, the way he is with the valet at the restaurant, or the way he is with an elderly woman trying to get into the elevator, just simply considerate at all times. And he’s a very selfless person and he’s an amazing dad, so his children are the most important thing to him and that’s really beautiful to watch.”
As previously reported, a rep for the actress confirmed on Tuesday, December 19, that Longoria, 42, is four months pregnant with a baby boy. This will be Longoria’s first child, and the fourth addition for Baston, who shares kids José, Tali and Mariana with ex-wife Natalia Esperón.
The Desperate Housewives alum, who has been married twice before, also played coy last year on whether or not she and Baston, 49, would have kids of their own one day.
“We, no. That’s just a private thing between us. When and if we discuss it, it will be between us,” Longoria said at the time.
The Telenovela star, who married the businessman in May 2016, told Us that while she was in rush to get married and have kids when she was younger, her relationship with Baston was “much deeper than a wedding.”
“I think that’s probably what makes this so much sweeter — is that I never really, I didn’t really put pressure on myself or the idea as much as I did when I was younger. Like when I was younger, I wanted to be married, I want to have kids, I can’t wait,” Longoria told Us. “I want to walk down the aisle, I want a dress, I want gifts, I want the church and you fantasize so much about it when you are younger and once you realize a wedding isn’t a marriage, then you can learn to appreciate it more and then it’s also, it lessens the expectations when you’ve gone through it. Pepe and I have both been married and so we understand what our relationship is on a much deeper level than a wedding.”
She continued, “A weekly schedule is a good example of how my priorities are in life. I work really hard Monday through Friday 9-5 and then I get to go home, cook dinner for my husband, go watch a movie, be with his kids, go to dinner for him for his work thing where I have to play the executive wife. I have those duties. And then I do it all over again. I really have a good balance right now in my life, I juggle well I think.”
