Pregnant Jessa Duggar Reveals Her Top Three Diaper Bag Must-Haves for Baby Spurgeon

She’s learned to pack the perfect diaper bag! Jessa Duggar, who announced this week that she’s pregnant and expecting her second child with husband Ben Seewald, revealed her top three mommy must-haves for their 9-month-old son, Spurgeon, in an interview with Us Weekly.

The reality star’s No. 1 favorite item is Spurgeon’s baby blanket, because it has so many other uses. “It doubles as a nursing cover because it’s so lightweight,” Duggar told Us Weekly. “They’re also super absorbent, so they’re handy for use as a burp cloth and for wiping up spit-up.”

She also stashes a baby carrier in her bag for when she’s on the go and needs both hands free. “It looks sort of like a wrap, but it’s way less complicated because it slips on like a T-shirt. This is my favorite carrier to throw on for a quick run into the grocery store, or that moment when you’re at the airport and don’t have enough hands for baby and bags,” Duggar, 23, explained. “It’s supercompact and I always keep it in my diaper bag.”

Finally, she always has to have some toys and books to keep Spurgeon entertained. “I keep a rattle and teething ring in the diaper bag, as well as one of his favorite board books. These are great to keep him occupied when we’re out and about,” she told Us. “His favorite toy is a little stuffed giraffe! He loves to chew on the antlers. He plays with it all the time, and it keeps him entertained indefinitely! We always make sure Mr. Giraffe comes with us for car and plane trips.”

The couple announced this week that their second child is due in February. “We are overjoyed to announce that Spurgeon has a new title in life as ‘big brother’! We are so thankful that God is adding to our family,” the pair told Us in a statement.

Like her parents, Duggar wants a big family. “I would love a house full of kids! Ben jokes about wanting 15 sons, but I imagine we will probably have a good mix of boys and girls,” the Counting On star told Us. “I absolutely loved being part of such a big family growing up. Our best friends were with us all the time, and we had so much fun making memories together. We played tons of basketball, kickball and broomball, and we had plenty of kids to make up two teams!”

The pair are on their way to filling a whole kickball team, and luckily, Duggar’s huge family gave her plenty of experience with little ones. “My sisters and I say now that having little siblings was like having live baby dolls,” she joked of her 14 younger siblings. “I loved picking outfits and would have to fight my sisters for the opportunity. We loved to help with feedings too, but would gladly turn baby over to Mom or Dad when it was time for diaper duty.”

Counting On airs on TLC Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
